Part 12, reflections

Sam's POV:

Well, I have to admit that Varren was right about this, this human has been very interesting, he's been fighting pretty much his whole life and hasn't caught a break, still though, being dragged into this situation piss's me off, but if my sister wants to help him, then might as well stick around, I am however going to read that romance she's writing just to embarrass her, she likes to write but doesn't want anyone to read them,

Sam: so what exactly is the plan Arthur?

Arthur: if I'm being honest, I don't know, but trying to figure out what is going on is a good place to start, and ideas?

Sam: no not really, being pulled into this on such short notice, I wasn't able to really plan anything

Varren: the PMCs will be looking for us, but Butch went to the old base where Arthur woke up in to see if he can find anything else about you, but the government probably isn't too happy about them withholding you from them

Jenny: why do they want Arthur anyway?

Arthur: they took blood and bone samples from me and found something in them, my guess is the serum I was given by the doctor before I was frozen, it's given me enhanced strength and enhanced healing, though whatever they did to my eye, it's causing it to heal slower

Sam: bet that hurt

Arthur: you have no idea

Kelly: it hurt for me too, just hearing those screams, they gave me nightmares

Jenny: glad to know that you care deeply for Arthur, Kelly Hills

Kelly gives a shy smile when Jenny said that, but back to business, we need a plan of action, otherwise, we are already lost, for start, we travel west to get away from the PMCs and Konbress, but that's just a start,

Butch's POV:

It's been three days since they escaped and I've been stuck here searching through this base, last time I was here was when me and my squad stumbled upon it and I knocked him out,

I sit here in his old room, thinking, maybe she's right, looking through his old records and files, he really was a good guy, protecting human and furry alike,

Getting up I walk out and to the command center when I get a call from my ex, that's weird, she never calls me, answering it,

Cathryn: Butch, I know that this is a bit out of nowhere but...

Butch: yeah it is, you've never once called me in the last twelve years, so what's changed all of a sudden?

Cathryn: I'm just a bit worried about Kelly, I don't completely trust that human and he's the one you've been chasing after

Butch: I know how you feel, but Kelly's a big girl now and she can handle herself, but you don't have to worry, she truly does love him, I know this because she told me herself

Cathryn: she's with you?

Butch: no, not anymore, she and Arthur escaped with the help of a mercenary we hired three days ago, she begged me to stop what Jack was doing to him, but I didn't, now I fear that she won't ever forgive me

I've stepped out into a hallway, I'm almost crying at this point, so much for being the tough badass mercenary,

Cathryn: Butch, are you okay?

Butch: no, our daughter hates me more than anything, I love her so much and just want to protect her from danger, but I fear she'll never forgive me, she's the only good thing I ever gave this world
