Chapter 27
"Sakura-chan promised to stay with this kyuubi...."
Mebuki smiled sadly, as she combed the demon's crimson locks.
"There were others who needed her on the battle field."
"Mah. She's not the only one.." Yuna was referring to herself, but both women though of all the other shinobi that had gone off to fight.
The kitsune hated it. The thought of not knowing if they were safe or not. Whether they'd died in battle or would be coming home. She'd even heard Naruto and the eight tails jinjuriki had joined the fight.
Though the news only seemed to annoy her more as they were forcing her to stay. She wasn't going to let them die. The moment Mebuki's back was turned, she planned to make for the battle grounds. She wouldn't let Madara steal the lives of anymore shinobi.
Unfortunately, Sakura's mother was expecting the kyuubi to make a run for it. She'd yet to even leave the tailed beast's side. Then again, what use would a pregnant demon be to the shinobi forces?
The kitsune shook her head, annoyed with herself. How could she have just sat back while everyone she knew went off to fight? Her hands fell to her ginormous stomach. The kit, that was her only reason.
"After you're born..." She whispered. "Mommy will go fight, after you're born."
"Not on my watch." The kyuubi sighed in frustration, she'd forgotten Mebuki was there for a moment.
Rising to her feet, the redette sent the woman a slightly hard glare. "This kyuubi feels like a common house pet.."
The blonde laughed, kissing the kitsune's forehead, like she would her real daughter. "You are no such thing, only a woman ready to meet her darling babe."
Yuna pouted her ears falling back as she pulled away from the elder woman. "If it weren't for the war, this Kyuubi might just agree with you..."

The nine tailed beast let out a soft sigh as she helped Mebuki prepare dinner. Though the house had only lost one member for a time, it felt empty. Sakura's dad, Kizashi, had tried to brighten the mood, but to no success.
There was little joy to be found with the war, even Yuna's fast approaching due date brought no excitement. She was missing all the action, even on the home front.
"Don't be so glum, Yuna-chan." Mebuki chide fondly.
The demoness sent her an almost playful glare, before returning her focus to the vegetables she was chopping to go in the stew. Kabuto had been right in assuming human foods would sooth her constant nausea. Though the kyuubi still missed the metallic taste of blood.
Mebuki tried to give her a reassuring smile, but she ignored it. The woman just didn't understand how it felt to be stuck here while her friends laid down their lives. She wasn't stupid, she knew some may never come back.
Yuna wanted to make sure there was at least someone to carry them home. To take them back to their families, over her condolences and tell them of their heroic deeds.
She may have once wanted to destroy this village that had raised her. But after seeing it hit rock bottom and still keep its will of fire, she couldn't help but feel inspired by them.
"Mebuki-san.."
The blonde looked up from where she was adding herbs and spices to the pot. "Yes?"
Yuna took in a breath, knowing the elder lady would be unhappy with what she had to say. This had been a constant debate in the Haruno house, even before Sakura left. It was also one Kizashi did not dare to take part in.
Though now, it made it that much more important she leave after her kitting. They needed her on the front lines, even if they thought she was the enemy. Not that she blamed them. She had done many horrible things. She didn't even deserve their forgiveness.
"I-I..." Yuna began to say, doing her best to say 'I' instead of referring to herself in third person, or adding 'Mah' to her sentences. She needed Mebuki to take her seriously when she said this. "I-I.... I w-.."
The sound died on her lips, her eyes going slightly wide. That didn't feel right.... Blushing fuchsia, the kyuubi glanced down at her stomach in slight shock. Little spasms of pain were running through her muscles, and her legs tails and feet felt embarrassingly wet.
Being the stubborn demon she was, Yuna did her best to ignore the pain and discomfort, she needed to tell Mebuki now. If she didn't, she feared she'd never get the chance.
"I-I will.." She broke off as her stomach contracted. "G-go fight... A-and bri-bring them all home...."
The kunoichi sighed, having expected the kyuubi to say as much. She turned, ready to unleash her counter attack. When she took in the kitsune's state of embarrassment.
A small blush adored Mebuki's own face as she realized the condition of her daughter's teammate. She dropped the plate she'd been holding, not even batting an eyelash when it shattered.
"Yuna-chan!"
The expecting mother whimpered, looking terribly lost as she grimaced, the contractions becoming more painful. "Wh-what?"
"The baby's coming!" Mebuki cried, joy in her voice as she went to aid the suffering beasty. Ignoring the look of horror that crossed the red head's face.
She wasn't ready to have it yet!
