Chapter XVI

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 was deafening. Just waiting behind the counter was hard enough both mentally and physically for Gon and Killua. They were mixed with fear and curiosity when they heard the bell chime, signifying someone had just entered. They stayed as quiet as they could, knowing that if it were someone they knew, their names would've already been called.

Suddenly, Gon felt someone grab onto his arm, someone who wasn't Killua. "I FOUND HIM!" A guard yelled. Gon looked between the guard and Killua with a pleading look, he thrashed around and tried to get out of his grip. Killua tried his best to keep the guard from taking Gon. Much to their dismay, they weren't strong enough and he successfully dragged Gon outside.

Killua chased the two but he was held back by the other guards. "GON!" He yelled in desperation. He hissed in pain as he could feel the grip on his arms tighten. The two guards forced him to kneel on the pavement, making him watch as Gon was being forcefully dragged to the queen, who was staring at the scene intently.

Gon could see everything unfold and he pleated with the guards. "WAIT, wait! I'll go, just please don't hurt him!" His cries were in vain as what he said didn't matter, their orders specified that they were to not listen to him, no matter what he said. Gon tried everything to get free, kick, dig his feet in the ground, drag his feet, nothing helped. When he finally reached his mom, he began pleating with her. "I beg you mom, please don't let them hurt him!"

She didn't respond to his request and instead just walked towards the castle, "C'mon Gon, we're going home. You have no choice."

"No but...what about-"

Mito made him face her, "𝐖𝐇𝐘?! Why do you care SO much about that boy?! Tell me Gon, why is he so special to you?!"

"BECAUSE I LOVE HIM," he confessed confidently, looking towards Killua with a soft look. The crowd that had formed due to the noise were in shock. They could only watch the scene because they would be pushed back if anyone tried to interfere. The confession had caused both the queen and guards to loosen their grip. Both boys took this chance and broke free, running to each other and embracing the other when in contact.

"Did they hurt you?!" Killua asked frantically, checking for any marks on Gon.

He chuckled and held his face in his hands, "No no, but what about you?"

"Who cares?!" Killua smiled with small tears in his eyes.

"I do," Gon spoke softly, hugging him tight, this time not letting go. In the hug though, Killua couldn't help but ask.

"Was it true, what you said? Do you really love me? Like, more than a friend kinda way?"

"Of course, I wouldn't lie about my feelings."

"Well...that's a coincidence, cause I feel the same way."

The crowd couldn't help but tear up, mostly Kurapika and Leorio though. Speaking of which, Leorio shouted from the crowd, "LET THEM BE TOGETHER!" This resulted in multiple shouts and cheers in support of the boys. They couldn't help but laugh and look around in admiration as the support just kept pouring in.

The shouts suddenly diminished when the queen was in front of Gon. He immediately got in front of Killua and kept a barrier between his mother and his lover. "Mom, I know you don't approve of Killua but he really is a good person if you get to know him. I don't care what happens to me as long as he's alright. All I ask is to stay by his side."

Mito was quiet before she spoke, "I..I'm so sorry, everyone. I was just so angry and protective that I didn't think about my actions. I never considered Gon's opinion nor let him explain. I am so sincerely sorry, my son. And to you too Killua. I know you can't forgive me and I understand that. But I'm more than happy to let Gon free to do as he pleases, as well as allow you to roam without the weight of your past."

Killua patted Gon's shoulder, signifying he'd like to talk to her. "You're right, I can't forgive you....yet. But, this could be a start?" He extended his hand, awaiting a handshake.

Mito looked down at him, then smiled. She took his hand in hers and held it firmly. Cheers could be heard from every corner, especially Gon as he wrapped his arms around Killua and planted a small kiss on his cheek.

Killua touched the exact place and chuckled nervously with a blush.

'Gon, you've changed my life. You really are...𝙢𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩...'
