Chapter 28: What Choice Will Be Made?

WHAT CHOICE WILL BE MADE?

Rhian walked up to the boarding house, hurrying to talk to her friends when she got there. When he opened the door, he saw that they were also leaving to attend an internship.

They were all surprised when they saw Rhian; the girl looking at them had a serious expression. “I need to talk to you,” she said to them, and the friends looked at each other.

No smile could be seen on their lips until they looked at the girl again. “What else do you need to explain to us, Rhian?” Nikki said seriously, and her brow furrowed when she saw that their expressions were very serious, as if they didnʼt want to see Rhian.
 
“Do you have any secrets youʼre not telling us?”

“What are you saying, Nikki?” pagtataka niyang tanong.

“Huwag ka nang magmaang-maangan pa, Rhian. Alam na namin ang buong katotohahan!” sabi ni Jennifer na halos pasigaw pa ito. “Ikaw ang tunay na kriminal. Ikaw ang serial killer!”

Rhian frowned even more when she heard what her friends were saying. He shook his head, looking at them one by one. “What are you talking about?! Iʼm not the serial killer!”

“Cut the crap, Rhian Luther!” sabi naman ni Lance; lumapit ito sa mga babae para pumunta roon sa unahan. “Sinabi na nina Detective Felix ang buong katotohanan tungkol sa pagkatao mo na matagal mo nang itinatago!”

When she discovered that Felix was to blame for her friendsʼ enmity toward her, she clenched her fist at once.

Ang buong katotohanan na nalaman ng magkakaibigan noong nag-usap-usap sila kasama sina Felix at Christopher sa parking lot. “Mag-iingat kayo kay Ms. Rhian Luther. Hindi ninyo siya tunay na kaibigan, at kinukuha niya lang ang loob ninyo para mahulog kayo sa bitag niya para kayo naman ang kaniyang isusunod.”

Nalito naman agad ang magkakaibigan sa sinabi sa kanila ni Felix. “A-Ano? Sir Felix, a-ano bang pinagsasabi niyo? Anong kinukuha lang ni Rhian ang loob namin para... mahulog kami sa bitag? At kami ang kaniyang isusunod?” naguguluhang sabi ni Nikki.

“We have a lead for our investigation. I found out that she was conspiring with Detective Vahn Darrel Fernandez, at tama ang hinala namin na may malaking sikreto si Ms. Rhian Luther,” Felix continued, and both he and Christopher looked at each other.

“We donʼt know how to explain this to you, especially since we are here in the parking lot, pero nais na namin kayong diretsuhin at bigyan ng pagkakataon na iwasan ninyo si Ms. Luther dahil hindi ninyo siya kilala,” sabi ni Christopher.

“Ano nga ba talaga iyon, mga sir?” curious na tanong naman ni Gerald sa kanila.

“Rhian Luther is a serial killer; he came out of the NBI investigation. Kaya naman gumagawa kami ng paraan ngayon para mahuli siya at panagutan lahat ng kasalanang ginawa niya,” diretsong sagot naman ni Felix.

The friends were in disbelief. They exchanged hushed glances, but they still had concerns about what Felix and Christopher were saying and needed their questions to be resolved.

“Hindi kami naniniwala! Ano bang pinagsasabi ninyo?! Alam naming masyadong napakamisteryosong tao ni Rhian, pero ang pagbintangan ninyo siyang siya ang serial killer, hindi kami makapapayag!” sabi ni Nikki na dumidipensa.

Lance immediately grabbed his arm to stop her and calm her down. “Are you telling the truth?” he asked them, but they noticed that the two detective officers nodded without hesitation.
 
Rhian is already seething with anger because of the lie she told her friends, and now she is being criticized by people who donʼt believe that she is just a victim and an innocent person.
