DNA analysis proved that the blood really belonged to Scorpius. Of course, that doesn't mean anything. A small amount of blood can be obtained easily, and a strip of cloth is no proof that someone is doing violence to Scorpius. However, it is difficult to explain this to his desperate parents. Draco was at his wit's end, and Harry was also sinking into despair. Luna was chosen for the next interrogation of Draco.

The investigation was still deadlocked. They tried to use the Patronus. However, it turned out that the place where the child was likely to be was secured from the outside against the spells. It was, therefore, impossible to trace him in any way.

Luna decided to try yet another option, including legilimency and its modern variants. First, she analysed Harry's memories. Unfortunately, no new relevant information could be obtained from them, Harry told his colleagues everything that could help in the case. So all that was left was to look through Draco's memories.

Luna liked young Malfoy. As an expert in legilimency, she could empathize with his thought processes, and she was well aware of what he had been through, how lonely he must have felt, and how much courage he had to show when he crossed over to the right side. He will carry the consequences of his ill-advised choices for the rest of his life. He was untrustworthy as a former Death Eater to most wizards. When they returned to Hogwarts to finish their last year, they were both somewhat aloof from the other students; Luna because of her original worldview and Draco because of his past. At that time, they were friends, and Luna often practised her skills with him, so she knew the truth very well and trusted him. It broke her heart that her friend had to suffer again. She felt the same way about Harry.

Throughout the day, Draco was nowhere to be found, which only caused more concern. But there was no reason to announce a search for him because he was free and not even under surveillance. Fortunately, Luna found him at home in the evening - but in what condition!

Draco looked even worse than the day before. The skin under his eyes was all etched from tears, he was unshaven, and his eyes were glassy. Exhausted, drunk, and desperate, he hardly managed to stay on his feet.

"Oh, poor Draco, you look awful," Luna whispered.

"Luna?" A wave of interest and surprise crossed his face for a moment.

She hugged him tightly.

"Harry didn't come with you?" he whispered disappointedly.

She didn't want to blame him for forbidding Harry to see him. She decided to treat him like her young children when they were tired; dealing with him was like walking through a minefield.

"Harry's busy with your case right now," she said calmly.

Draco was completely taken aback by the information. He leaned on Luna with all his weight, so she almost lost her balance.

"I want Harry, I-I need him..." he repeated pointlessly.

She shoved him onto the sofa in the room. It was clear that she would not have a good conversation with him today.

"You need to get some sleep, Draco."

"I can't sleep. I can't sleep at all."

Draco really hadn't slept or eaten since the day Scorpius went missing. Luna was determined to take care of him.

"We can manage, Draco." First, she forced him to drink a mug of cocoa.

"Come, I'll take you to the bedroom."

Draco dutifully stumbled over to the bed and curled up there, exhausted. He cried again.

"I want Harry here with me."

Luna was soothingly stroking his hair, which now completely lacked its usual shine and was in dire need of washing. She began whispering to him the lullaby she used to lull her children to sleep. She pulled him into her arms again and gently rocked him from side to side until he stopped sobbing. She gently put him back on the bed, running her hand lightly up and down his back, still singing to him. On his back, she alternately wrote Harry loves you, and everything will be alright. Draco's body finally relaxed. Luna gently pulled away from him. Draco pulled her back. "Harry..."

She took his hand tightly and waited until he fell asleep more soundly. Draco slept for sixteen hours. Several times a night, he woke up drenched in sweat and paralyzed with terror, but Luna always helped him fall asleep again.
