What.
Seungmin let out a loud sigh and made a show of rolling his eyes. Not again. He was perfectly fine sitting by himself.
"Go on," The teacher chirped, gesturing at Hyunjin. The older shouldered his bag and carefully picked his way down the isle. He slid into the seat next to Seungmin and dropped his bag with a light thud. Turning to face the other, he grinned and stuck out his hand for a shake.
"Hi, I'm Hyunjin! Nice to meet you!" He said, brown eyes sparkling. The younger's eyes darted down to the outstretched hand, and slowly dragged themselves up his face.
"........I heard you the first time," Seungmin deadpanned. After a long awkward pause where neither of them moved, Hyunjin dropped his hand in his lap.
"Um...what's your name?" He asked, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Did you not hear the teacher,"
"How old are you?"
"Why should I tell you,"
"Do you like ferrets?"
"Not if you do,"
"......." Hyunjin fell silent. Seungmin sighed, finally enjoying the peace and quiet before class started. He bet to himself that his new deskmate would only last two weeks.
__________
"Hey, can I stay with you for a couple days?"
"I'm sorry, what?!"
Seungmin stared in disbelief at Hyunjin, as if daring him to repeat himself.
"I need to stay with someone until they get my dorm room sorted out," He said sheepishly, adjusting his bag.
"Why me?" The young asked, with an exasperated expression.
"Well, you're technically the only person I've spoken to besides the teacher today. So I figured I might give it a shot," He shrugged.
"I cannot believe you..." Seungmin said coldly, glaring daggers.
"Please?" Hyunjin begged, "I promise I won't bother you after that!"
"No,"
"I can clean! I can wash dishes, and do the laundry, and garden, and-"
"Fine, now kindly shut up," Seungmin snapped, rubbing his temples. Hyunjin gasped dramatically, grabbing the other's hand with relief.
"Thank god!" He grinned, "Let's go!"
"Yeah, yeah,"
Hyunjin followed Seungmin to his car, and loaded his baggage in the trunk. The drive was silent and mostly filled with Seungmin shooting lazers at Hyunjin with his eyes. When they got to the younger's apartment, he suddenly whipped around.
"Before we go in, I have a few house rules," He declared. Hyunjin shivered, wrapping his cold limbs against his body in an attempt to keep warm.
"Can't you tell me once we're inside?" He muttered, his breath condensing in the air with each word.
"Nope, because I'm an asshole," Seungmin snickered, "okay first, no shoes in the house. If you track mud in, you clean it up. if you make a mess, clean it up. DO NOT blast music in the house, or slam doors, or make any loud noises. Wash your own dishes after you eat, and don't bother me when I'm writing in my journal. Got it?"
Hyunjin blinked slowly, "Uh, yep."
Seungmin shrugged, satisfied and promptly turned on his heel. Carefully fitting the key into the door, he opened the door. Hyunjin had to catch the door with his elbow, as he was carrying his luggage, and Seungmin hadn't bothered to hold the door open for him.
"The bathroom is through that door," Seungmin said, pointing to a white door to the left, "and through that one is my bedroom. MY bedroom, you can sleep on the couch."
Hyunjin glanced at the couch he was meant to spend the night on. It had two decorative blue pillows on its light grey surface.
"Why can't I share the bed with you?" He pouted, almost bursting out with laughter at the face Seungmin made.
".......No."
"Okay, okay, I was just joking,"
Seungmin opened the door to his bedroom and ducked inside, leaving Hyunjin standing in the living room without a clue of what to do.
