Faking It

The defenses of the stronghold were not very strict, as it was located in an urban area and it would be impossible for them to have tanks, warplanes, and military bunkers on alert as they are just a low level gang.

"I've observed the area, and I can sneak in directly from above," Brian said.

"There's a patio in the yard, and only one or two guards are there. It should be easy to take them out."

"What, we're just going to sneak in?" Alex looked at Brian suspiciously.

Brian looked at him just as suspiciously. "What other option do we have?"

"I can only say that your thinking is outdated, old man. Sneaking in like this is a thing of the past in this era you have to be bold," Alex said with a smirk.

Without waiting for a response, he strode forward and knocked on the iron door of the building. The loud noise shattered the silence of the night.

"What are you doing?!" Brian hissed as he came to stand beside Alex.

Before Alex could answer, they heard footsteps approaching the door. Brian fell silent as the small opening in the iron door was unlocked and a cautious-looking man peeked out with only one eye exposed.

When he saw Alex and Brian, he became nervous and asked, "Who the hell are you?"

"You imbecile, how dare you talk to me in that tone? We are Chief Laurent men. Believe me, I'll gut you alive," Alex threatened ferociously.

"It will be my pleasure to kill you. Why don't you hurry up and open the door, kneel in front of me, and wait for me to gut you," Alex said with arrogance and confidence.

He pulled out a business card from Chief Laurent and waved it in front of the guard's eyes. The man's eyes bulged in fear and he quickly unlocked the door.

"I'm sorry, sir. Please forgive me, I didn't know you were Chief Laurent's men," the guard said, bowing his head.

Alex didn't reply, his face full of impatience and anger. He lowered his voice and said, "Director Laurent sent me to ask what's going on at the construction site. What have you done? Have you kidnapped someone important?"

"I... I don't know..." the guard stammered.

"Fuckers!" Alex cursed, frowning at the guard. "Of course, I know you don't know. Otherwise, why do you think I came here? Lead the way, I want to see your boss. This is the director's order! Do you want to block me at the door?"

The guard stuttered, "But why aren't you wearing a police uniform?"

Alex rolled his eyes. "Are you an idiot? Do you think I would come to you in a police uniform? I might as well just find a newspaper reporter and make everything public."

"Yes, yes, yes... I'll ask the boss!" The guard said, still looking nervous. "Can you give me the business card first?"

"Fool, hurry up!" Alex cursed, handing over the business card. "Follow me."

Brian watched as Alex expertly played the role of a member of Chief Laurent's gang, using intimidation and threats to gain access to the stronghold.

He couldn't help but be impressed by Alex's acting skills.

He whispered to Alex, "Is this a good idea?"

Alex replied quietly, "If we sneak in and kill them, it will be troublesome if we're discovered. But if we go in openly and identify their key personnel, we'll have the upper hand. And we don't want bullets flying around. Your daughter may be inside."

Brian's face darkened at the mention of his daughter. He still didn't know exactly where she was. It was likely that she was in this place, but if she wasn't, that was bad news. He knew that this gang would send attractive, virgin "high-end goods" to be auctioned off...

The thought of how these bastards treated other humans made Brian's blood boil.

Alex and Brian followed the guard into what could only be described as a makeshift stronghold. It was messy and dirty, more akin to a slum than a proper base of operations. But the people in the slums had higher moral standards than the scum they were about to confront.

Once they were inside, the guard led them to the main building where a few other gang members were standing guard. Brian noticed that the defenses were indeed lax – there were only a few guards and they seemed unprepared for an attack.

As they walked through the courtyard and approached the main building, a muscular man came up to them and searched them. Alex handed over his gun without hesitation, and after a moment of hesitation, Brian followed suit.

In the original movie, Brian had stormed the stronghold alone, but now he had Alex by his side. Both men were confident in their abilities and knew they didn't need guns to take out this trash. It was just easier to have them at the ready.

Alex was calm, a far cry from the nervous student he used to be. Now, with the [Ace Agent] attribute, taking down a human trafficking operation like this was child's play.

He had only a vague recollection of the original movie's plot, but even if he remembered it perfectly, he would still take precautions. He was prepared and confident, even without his gun.

As he wondered if Brian's daughter, Jimmy, was being held captive in this place, Alex was led inside by the muscular man and two armed guards followed closely behind to prevent any trouble.

But for two top agents like Alex and Brian, these gunmen were nothing more than sitting ducks. They could easily take them out and seize their guns.

The command center of the gang was a crude, disorganized mess. It was clear that this was just a group of street thugs with guns but no brains. A properly trained combat team could take them out in minutes.

Alex looked at the pitiful excuse for a gang and couldn't help but smile at the thought of taking them down. This was going to be fun.

But before he could act, a voice interrupted his thoughts. "What does the chief want?"
