It's ironic how when babies are born, their chosen name essentially is a foreshadowing of events. Each name translates differently, some meaningful and some... well, they're on their own.
When Valentina Alma was born, her parents hadn't chosen a name.
However, when Rosa Hernandez, Valentina's grandma, first held her, she knew that her name should be what would then translate to Brave Soul.
She will have a brave soul to conquer any problem that would be thrown her way. Was the explanation behind Rosa's reasoning of her granddaughter to be named Valentina. After that day, they would grow a bond.
Valentina grew up in her grandma's house, spending her time there when her parents were working or running errands.
But there was only so little time before her grandma would then return back home, in Mexico, after an injury. Little did they know that not even five years later, Rosa Hernandez would then pass away from dementia.
With the passing of her abuela still being somewhat fresh in her life, Valentina continues her day-to-day life as if nothing ever happened.
Until one day she gets brought into the mess of what has been hidden from the people of Hawkins, she starts to experience guilt, having visions, and even gains the attention of her longtime crush, Steve Harrington.
Oh, right? How could she forget about him.
