Chapter 29 - The Shade

Jhoanna's POV:

I sat on a long comfy blue sofa, crossing my legs, swaying one leg while waiting for someone to arrive. Today is the day I will have my leave with my secretary.

As I wait for her, I am silently reading a book about business. I was about to turn another page of the book when someone interrupted me.

Gwen: “Hey, Jho! Ate Colet is here na with Jasmine. Pwede bang sumama rin kami ni Bebe? Pleaseee, si Bebe Jaja nga kasama eh.” Pagmamaktol nito na ikinataas ng kilay ko. Isasama niya si Jasmine?

And yes, my cousin's girlfriend is also here. Both of them visit here to inform me na aalis sila ng jowa niya papuntang Tagaytay dahil hindi ko ito pinayagang sumama sa amin sa Baguio. Sa ibang lugar nalang daw sila magde-date.

Sheena: “Okay lang naman sa Tagaytay tayo, Bebe. Gusto mo lang talaga guluhin pinsan mo kaya nagmamaktol ka dyan.” Bulalas nito kaya napailing nalang ako at hinayaan ang pagbabangayan ng dalawa.

The front door opened and a two figure entered the house. It was my secretary, smiling widely while holding a bunch of flowers on her right hand. While on her other hand, she was holding a tiny hand of a kid who's frowning, looks like the kid had a bad morning. Her eyebrows were close to each other, while her cute little arm was hugging a chick stuffed toy.

Lola: "Oh, ayan na pala si Nicolette. Are you taking the child with you to Baguio?" She asked curiously, glancing at the sullen child. Lola was seated on the other end of the sofa opposite me.

Colet quickly approached Lola and respectfully greeted her. Afterward, she bent down and whispered something to Jasmine. Then, the child took Lola's hand and placed it on her forehead as a sign of respect.

Colet: “A-ahh, ehh, sorry po. Nagpumilit po kasing sumama hehe. Hindi ko naman po matanggihan.” She said while scratching the back of her head.

Lola: “It's okay, nandito naman na rin kayo. Kumain muna kayo ng umagahan bago bumiyahe.” Malambing na usap nito kaya naman tumango nalang kami.

I closed the book I am holding and put it down on the table. I stood up that made the bump disappear on the sofa and went to the newcomers.

Colet: “Good morning, Babu!” She greeted happily.

As she approached, I only just noticed what she was wearing. She had on a beige hoodie paired with baggy denim pants and black Jordan Air Force 1 sneakers. She also wore a black beanie that completed her entire look. Damn! This girl might attract a lot of attention.

When she reached Lola, she immediately handed her the flowers. She even gave me a quick peck on the lips that sends shivers on my spine. That effect again.

Sheena: “Ang landi mo pala talaga, Ate.” Sambit nito kaya naman agad niyang tinapunan ng masamang tingin ang kanyang kapatid.

“Good morning. Thank you sa flowers.”

Colet: “Yung flowers may sukling 'Thank you'. Paano naman yung kiss?” kainis talaga 'tong babaeng toh. May pagkamalandi rin talaga eh.

Gwen: “Gano'n pala 'yon. Pahingi pa nga ng tips Ate Colet.” Sambit nito na ikinatawa ng mga tao rito sa bahay.

I quickly approached the girl in front of me and swiftly kissed her right cheek. Then, I immediately bent down to kiss the forehead of the child who had been sulking earlier.

“Are you okay, Baby?” I asked her but she kept her head down, still frowning.

"Let's sit down first." I said to both of them, so Colet immediately helped the child sit on the sofa.
