It had been a long day for Gumball and Darwin. Gumball had almost lost his best friend to Tobias. He'd had to race all the way to his house to stop Darwin from playing games with him, in order to prevent losing him forever. Luckily Darwin hadn't gone through with it, and the two had reconciled.

Or at least, Gumball thought they had. Even after the two had hugged it out, Gumball still couldn't help but feel deeply hurt by how Darwin had treated him the last few days. He wanted to believe that Darwin had just gotten a little excited and carried away, but a part of him deep down couldn't help but worry that he hadn't.

What if Darwin really had almost replaced him so easily? What if he really did almost lose his best friend forever?

And what if happened again?

These thoughts kept repeating in his head, over and over and over. It didn't help that Darwin had gone back to gushing about Tobias yet again, despite assuring Gumball they were still best friends and he had nothing to worry about. Even now, as he lay in his bed about to go to sleep, Darwin was still stood in his bowl going on and on about how 'cool' and 'amazing' Tobias was, completely oblivious to him and his feelings.

"You should haveseen his game collection! I mean we didn't play any of them but he had every single Zelmore and Speedy the Hedgehog game, and they were all the original boxed Japanese versions! Do you have any idea how expensive those are!?"

"Mhm..." Gumball nodded, not really paying attention.

"That's not all! He also showed me his collection of Krupoch the Barbarian trading cards, and he has the complete set, even the super rare ones you've been trying to get for years!"

"Yeah, cool..." The feline rolled his eyes and turned over to face the wall with a frustrated sigh.

"You should have been there Gumball! He really is the coolest, most awesome guy ever!"

"So I've been told a thousand times already." Gumball scoffed.

The goldfish smiled, oblivious to how much he was upsetting his brother. "So how was your hang out with Alan?"

Gumball remained silent, letting out a quiet sniffle as he glared at his bed sheets deep in thought.

"Gumball?" Darwin called out, only to again receive no response. "Gumball!?" He waved his fin in front of his face.

"Wha-huh!? Sorry, what?" The feline turned his head to look at his brother as he was brought out of his thoughts.

"I asked if you and Alan had a good time."

"Oh, uh...y-yeah, we had a great time. We played Dodge or Dare for hours, we played catch together, we even played through Alien Space Invaders 7 and finally beat it without you! We also spent ages talking about..uh...girls and..space a-a-and all kinds of other interesting things! It was soooo much fun. You really missed out. Too bad you chose to hang out with Tobias instead...you could have been there if you hadn't..." He replied in an attempt to make Darwin jealous, only to do a terrible job at sounding convincing.

"Uh...huh..." Darwin crossed his arms and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "and that's why you left him and rushed over to me instead?"

"...yeah?"

Darwin hesitated, before letting out a sigh. "Look, are you okay Gumball? You've seemed pretty mad around me all day. Did I do something to upset you?" He asked concerned.
