Mia

"Girl, you forgot to pay!" I reminded the blonde as she walked out the door of the general store.

"Oh no, it's okay. If you walk out fast enough, they won't even question you," Sarah nonchalantly replied.

Excuse me, what?

"Yeah, but legally- gee, I don't know, you're supposed to pay at the counter for what you're taking out of the shop," I sarcastically explained.

Sarah simply laughed and continued walking.

Of course she knew. I'd seen Emily pay for stuff, and usually Sarah tagged along to watch her.

She was obviously smart enough to know she had to pay for what she was taking. Right?

"Did your mom cut your funding or something? I don't mind helping out with a few bucks if you need a snack. Em's always happy to get you stuff too. You don't have to steal," I reminded her, trying to see what exactly her weird mindset was.

There was no way she was doing this without some kind of weird reason. Maybe she was performing a political protest against the owners of the store she saw on social media?

"Okay, Mia. It's not a big deal. I just feel uncomfortable with the small talk and interactions I have to have with the cashier when I'm alone, so I just started not going up there and it's been fine so far," she explained to me.
