A couple of months had passed since the incident between Matt's parents and us, but it was once again that time of year. Christmas. I think that Phil was the most excited out of all of us though. He decorated the house with tinsel, baubles and outside he covered the house in bright Christmas lights. Yes, it was Christmas for sure, but we still were missing one thing. A tree. We hadn't gotten a tree yet! I felt like it was somewhat my fault, as I had been working, but it was fine we could always just get one. Ah yes though, it was such a nice time of year. Joy in the air, Christmas cookie, and most of all the light sprinkle of snow in the morning that would gently touch your warm cheek when you walked outside, but than just as fast as it appeared it would melt and continue in this cycle. At that morning I was editing a video, Phil was out buying Christmas gifts to give to the families, and Dil was outside with the neighbors. I was bored out of my mind, and editing was taking so long! I looked over to the window, it was covered in cold frost that had formed overnight. I gazed to the grass where Dil was with the neighbor kids, Tabitha and Luke, making snow angels. Tabitha had wavy black hair and blue eyes, she wore a light blue coat and was running around the snowy yard. Luke had brown hair and emerald green eyes that would sparkle in the sun just as if they were freshly cleaned jewels. I watched as they laughed together and smiled, running in circle taking turns on chasing each other. Then, that began to make a snowman. Dil worked on the head, Tabitha worked on the body, and Luke worked on the bottom. Together they helped each other and when one messed up, they would all help that person. Tabitha walked over to Dil and began to talk to him. I noticed that Dil started to blush, it was vey obvious since his cheeks turned bright pink. He smiled bashfully, it was so cute! They then, all three of them now, ran out of sight to our front door. I heard the sound of a door open and people coming up the stairs. I continued to edit and soon was interrupted by Dil. "Dad?" He asked me. I turned around and smiled. "Hey Dil!" I said. "What's up?" He looked over to Tabitha and Luke who were behind him. "Can I have Tabitha and Luke sleepover, I can invite Matt too!" He smiled. I thought about it for a second. "Well it's fine with me, if Papa says it's fine." Dil's smile widened and he jumped up. "Yes!" He exclaimed. He looked over to his friends and they too jumped and yelled. "Thanks Dad!" He came over and gave me a hug. "I love you so very much, to the moon and back!" I laughed at his comment. "Aww thanks buddy, but remember. Papa has to say okay." Dil smiled. "Okay!" He then ran back down stairs and his friends followed. I smiled to myself. I hope Phil says yes.
~later that day~
"I don't know." Phil said, once he got home and placed the items he bought down on the counter. I sighed. "Phil!" He coked his head. "This would be Dil's fist sleepover! He's excited." Phil shrugged and walked over to the kitchen to make some coffee. "Dan," he said, pouring in the things he needed to make coffee. "Does this really mean a lot to you?" I nodded. Dil really needed good friends, this was important to me. "Okay." Phil said. "It fine with me." He smiled and I did I the same. I told Dil and he told his friends. They were all excited. And decided to call Matt. He said he would be there around five. It was now three thirty-five. "Okay!" I said, clapping my hand together and then clasping them. "What do you guys want to do?" I asked. Dil replied. "We could play hide and seek?" All his friends smiled and nodded. "Okay." I said. "Let's play. Who's counting first?" Tabitha raised her hand. "I will." She said. I nodded. Everyone hid and Tabitha looked. Dil hid underneath his bed, Luke his behind the shower curtain, and I hid inside the closet. Tabitha first found Dil, then Luke, and finally me. We played until five when Matt came. "Hi," I said, greeting Matt and his father at the door. His mom must not have wanted to come. "Come on in!" They walked inside. "Dil and his friends are upstairs, I can take your pillow, and duffel bag for you if you want?" Matt nodded, and ran upstairs to join Dil. "Hey, Dan?" Preston asked. "Yeah?" I replied. "Can I tell you something?" I shrugged. "Depends what it is I guess." "Okay," he said, taking a long deep breath. "I'm bi."
~later after Matt's father left.~
I was still kind of in shock after what Preston said. He told me that he had been keeping it a secret for a while. His wife had no idea, and he was scared to tell anyone. "Once I saw you and Phil together and what you said about how love comes in many forms, I knew I had to tell someone." He had told me. I told him that what I said was true, it didn't matter what gender you loved, it made you who you are. He had thanked me and said that he wouldn't forget that. I felt great about what I had done. Though he still liked his wife, and women in general, he still liked men. Once he had left, he promised me that he would tell his wife. Later that night, I told Dil and his friends to set up they're sleeping bags and where they would be sleeping. They come to sleep in our guest room, since it had a bed to begin with, and Phil and I got out some air mattresses. We set them up while Dil and his friends watched Pokémon downstairs in the living room. "So," Phil said. "How's your mattress coming?" He took a huge breath in and blew as hard as he could into the mattress. "Pretty good." I replied, doing the exact same thing. We decided that we would set up three mattresses and have one person sleep on the bed. We figured to make it fair, we would play Rock Paper Scissors to determine would would get it. The guest room had white walls, a widow on each side of the bed, brown soft carpet, and the bed was tall and soft. It had a white bed speed, and a white comforter, along with white pillows. Basically the whole Rome was white. Phil chose the colors. After we all had inner we watched a movie. It was My Neighbor Totoro, one of my personal favorites. Luke won Rock Paper Scissors and got to sleep on the bed, no one was mad though, because he fell of twice that night. The whole night Phil and I could hear them giggling talking about random stuff. At about three in the morning, they fell asleep. The next morning they watched tv, went outside, eat breakfast, and played. Dil said goodbye to each of them as they're parents came. "So," I asked him, looking down to where he was standing. "Did you have fun?" He nodded. "That was the most fun I've ever had."
