Caitlin's pov

"Bye, dad. I'll see you tomorrow." I said, kissing his cheek before grabbing my bag, pillow, and the gift I got for Alice's birthday. I then get out of the truck. Dad rolls down the window and says, "Bye love you call me if you need anything." "Ok I will. Love you too." I said. "CJ," Dad yelled before I walked away from the car. "Yeah?" I almost forgot here's some cash for if you go somewhere." Dad said, handing me some money. "Thanks, dad, bye." I said as Alice walked out to greet me. "Catie, I'm so glad you could make it." She said. "Thanks for inviting me." I say, handing her the gift. "Thank you. You didn't have to get me anything." She said. I don't really know why she invited me we're not really friends. I've only hung out with her a few times, and that was because a few of my friends are friends with her. She leads me inside, and I see a few of my friends. I go over to them and say hi. I look at Alice and say, "Where are your parents? My dad wanted me to tell them that if there's an emergency that they can call him at any time." "My parents are out of town." "Oh, I thought your parents would be here." "They were, but they decided last minute that they wanted to go on a little trip, but my older brothers and sister will be here, so we're not completely alone. So, what do you guys want to do first?" She asks. "We can watch a movie, and later, if you still have that stuff I gave you last week, then we can play truth or dare." Becca said as everyone nodded. "Hang on a sec, and I'll see if my brother can take us to the movies." She said before yelling for her brother Jessie. A few seconds later, a guy peeked his head inside the room. "What do you want, shortie?" He asked, and she rolled her eyes at the nickname. "Can you take us to the movies." She asked. "No." "Why." "Because I'm not going to see some kid's movie with my little sister." "Oh I get it. You're scared you're going to see a cute girl and that your baby sister's going to ruin it for you." "No." "Then take us." "Fine, but you're cleaning my room for a week." "Whatever." She said, rolling her eyes. "Whoever's not in the car in the next 10 seconds, I'm leaving you here." He said, grabbing his keys and walking out to the car. We all walked out to the car to go watch the movie. We get in and start looking for a movie to watch. "What do yall want to watch?" Alice asked. "Let's see there is Spider-man Across the Spider-Verse, Elementals, The Flash, Transformers: Rise of the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3." Becca said, looking at what's playing at the movie theater online." If I'm taking you to the movies, we are not watching Elementals or the Little Mermaid." Jessie said, and Alice rolled her eyes. "Fine, Ok so Spider-man, Flash, transformers, or Guardians of the Galaxy? She said." What about Guardians of the Galaxy." Becca asked. "I'm ok with that. Are you guys ok with that?" Alice asked, and everyone nodded. Once we got to the movie theater, we all got out of the car and walked inside. We waited in line to buy our tickets and snacks. Alice and Becca got their tickets and snacks. Paige was getting hers now. Me, Summer, and Mallory were standing in line talking. Summer and I have been friends since kindergarten, and we meet Mallory in third grade, and we've been friends ever since. "Do yall want to get a large popcorn and just share it, and we can buy our own drinks and other snacks we want?" Summer asked. "Sure." Mallory said. "What about you, Caite?" Summer asked. "Yeah, I'm fine with that. I'll pay for it." "Ok we'll pay you back later." Mallory said, and I nodded. Once Paige was done, Mallory went up to one of the registers, and I went up to the other, getting the popcorn, a large icee, and snacks. I paid and went to fill up my coke icee and went to stand with everyone else. "My friends are here. I'm going out with them. Call me when the movie's over." Jessie said. "Ok."Alice said. Summer and Mallory soon walked up, and we went to get our seats. We walk in, and there is no one here. we walk all the way to the top and sit down. "I've actually already seen this?"Paige said." I went with my cousin a week ago."She said. "I've seen it too. I went with my dad when it first came out." I said. We talked quietly for a while till the movie started. After the movie ended, we walked out to the main area in the theater and sat in some chairs, and Alice texted her brother that the movie was over. As we waited for her brother, we sat there talking about different things. "So what do you guys want to do when we get back."Alice asked." We can play truth or dare."Becca said." Yes, let's play truth or dare."Alice said. Jessie got to the theater, and we all walked out to the car, and Jessie drove home. We got back to the house and went inside and into Alice's room. "Alright, let's play truth or dare. Do you still have the weed I gave you last week?" Becca asked. "Yeah, I do. It's in my closet." Alice said. "Let's use it as one of the dares." Becca said. "Ok." Alice said. We played truth or dare for awhile everyone had taken some of the weed except me and Summer. Mallory had only taken a little. We stopped playing truth or dare and were all just talked. Me, Summers, and Mallory were sat on the bed talking while the other girls were smoking weed and talking."Did your dad work that shooting at the mall the other day?" Mallory asked. "Yeah, he did. He didn't get home till around midnight." I said. "Did he tell you anything about it?" Summer asked."Not really. All he said was there were a lot of people injured, and a few people died." I said."Let's go for a walk." Alice said. We put our shoes on and went for a walk. After we walked for a while, we saw someone selling drugs. Becca looks at us, "Yall want to go get some?"she asked." Yeah, let's go. "Alice said as we all walked over to him. Alice, Paige, Becca, and Mallory get some, and we start to walk away when we hear someone say," I'm going to need you girls to come with me."We turn around and see an officer walking over to us while his partner arrests the dealer." Um, may I ask why, sir?"Alice asks." Because it's illegal for minors to bu drugs, so I'm going to have to take you in and call your parents."The officer said as the other officer walked up after putting the dealer in the back of the police car." Stay with them. I'm going to call someone to come get them." The first officer said, pointing at us. I decided to sit down on the ground as we waited for the other police car. The other girls sat down beside me." Are you ok?" Summer asked me, noticing I was starting freak out. "My dad is going to kill me." I say." Maybe he'll be understanding if you talk to him."I doubt it." I say as the officer comes back with two other officers." Alright, you three come with me and officer Rojas." The officer said, pointing to me, Summer, and Mallory. We stood up and followed them to the police car. I kept my head down as we walked to the car. Office Rajas opened the door and motioned for us to get in. Summer and Mallory got in first before I got in. I saw Alice, Becca, and Paige get into the other police car. "Get in, please? Officer Hawkes said, and I get in. The officers get into the truck, and they start the drive to the station. "Which district are we going to?" I ask, hoping it's not the 21st. "We are going to the 24th district. Why?" Officer Hawkes asked. "My dad told me to always ask so if something happens, I know where I am." I said. "That's a good thing to teach your kids." He said. I looked out the window, thinking about what my dad would say. We finally got to the station, and they took us inside and put us in three separate rooms, taking our belongings to search them. A few minutes later, they both came into talk to me. Officer Hawkes did most of the talking out of the two." What's your name, kid?" He asked. "Caitlin." "Caitlin what?"Halstead? I said very quietly. "I'm sorry." " Halstead." I say again this time a little louder this time. He looks at Officer Rojas before looking back at me," Any relation to Jay Halstead?" He asks, and I look down. "I'm going to take that as a yes," He said before standing up. "Stay with her. I'm going to make a phone call." He says as he walks to the door.
