~CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

“Don’t push me Navya.” Nandini slammed the file on the table enraged. “He forgot my birthday. I am not forgiving him at all.”
“But…”, Navya mumbled.
“No means no; now please take this file to Dr. Mehta.”
Nandini shifted in annoyance. Navya sighed and picked file. She stepped out. Nandini rubbed her head in frustration.
“Ahh I am going crazy. Stop using my best friend Manik and face me like a man.”, she took a waste paper and started making a plane out of it. “You are testing my patience by doing this.”

Phone rang with full force as Navya was about to step into the ER. She took it out and sighed. It was Manik. She attended the call but kept it to some distance from her ear.
“Hello! Navya speaking.”
“Did she agree?”, Manik asked desperately from the other side of the line. Navya laughed.
“Why don’t you come here to get her?”
Manik who was on the other side making a presentation paused. He gritted his teeth and swallowed hard. Why are you being so dense in Nandini?
“I can't have a meeting in the next 10 minutes and I am not even done with the presentation.”
“Then come get her after it.”, Navya said casually.
“But..”, Manik paused.
“You only want her to get out of the hospital right? I will bring her to the restaurant near our hospital for lunch. Then I will slip out from the scene and you can take over.” Navya said in a flow. Manik smiled and glanced towards his watch. It's almost 1 so if I can make it out of the meeting till 2. I can get her!
“Done let’s make it 2.”

An hour passed like magic, Nandini was racing towards the hospital cafeteria when Navya overtook her.
“What?”
“Let's go out to eat.”
“Why?”
“I am tired of eating this regular food. Even its smell makes me want to throw up.”, Navya faked puking. Nandini held her by arm instantly.
“Hey hey you over dramatic creature relax we are going.”
After this Nandini turned on her heels; they changed into regular clothes and stepped outside. One at the restaurant they settled down and Navya excused herself for a call of nature as she planned. Nandini kept waiting patiently. She was also hungry. When enough was enough she stood up and went to search for her in toilets. While opening door of last stall, Nandini growled:
“Did you drown in toilet Navya?”

Enraged Nandini stormed out of the hotel only to find Manik at the doorstep. She tried to avoid him.
“Please I am working hours,'' Nandini said.
“Navya will submit leave.”, Manik said with a cheeky smile while holding her hand. Nandini turned red,
