"I'll say this one more time. Mary, Michi...you will join the student council," She stated calmly. The air started to weigh on us more and more with every silent second came by. Mary faltered, but gathered herself to speak. "May I please ask you just one question first?" Mary looked to her. Kirari backed away, "Of course, you may. Ask anything that you want." Massaging her sore chin, she sighed, "It's about the house pet system. The way you do that to people, turn them into animals. Why do you have to go that far?" The question was up in the air when Kirari turned around, walking to the fish tank lining the wall. Putting a hand on it, she said, "Pretty, aren't they? But even these cute little fishies live in a world where it's survival of the fittest." Her posture slumped a bit as she continued, "Even if you gathered up and removed to the fish at the bottom, what do you think would happen? A new bottom would form. And just like before, the system would grow. Some fish would rise up, some would dare steal food from the strong. So, think. What if these were humans?"

"You want to see how people would act like in those situations," Michi finished for her. Mary jumped looking from me and Kirari, like we were both crazy. I guess that wasn't too far off, at least from Mary's thinking. "No," Mary declared. Kirari turned with a blank somewhat expression, "What did you say to me?" Mary stood up walking to the other side of the sofa, "Did you not hear me? I said I'm sorry, but I won't be joining the student council." She hummed softly to that, then looked to me. "And you Michi?" She asked. Taking my last sip, placing my cup down and standing, I answered, "It's also a no from me. I have other plans to attend to, and being apart of the council...surely isn't one of them." As I picked up my bag, Kirari asked something else. "It is because you don't like how we treat our pets? Have you always had such a strong sense of justice?"

That seemed to touch a nerve for Mary, her expression darkened. "I don't have to answer a single thing," She walked to the door, leaving with a goodbye. I followed her out, but before I closed the door I looked back at her. Her smile faded into a bored line, life somewhat drained from those eyes. It didn't last long as I stayed longer. Before leaving, I said to her, "Here's to watching each other very closely." That smile returned and I left the door behind thick doors.

The sun was halfway over the horizon as I walked home. As I came closer to my location, I noticed something new at my door. Rather, someONE new at my door. My sister, wearing bright colors and sticking out like a highlighter in a box of sharpies. When she noticed I was walking up to the door, she smiled big and got a running start. "Michi!" She yelled, jumping at me with her arms out. As she closed in on me with a very uncomfortable looking hug, I moved to the side to let her crash into ground. "Ow! Hello to you too, big sis..." "What are you doing here, Mei?" She groaned, standing up to brush her clothes off. Shaking it off, she quickly hugged me and backed away like she was scared of getting bitten or something. With a laugh, she continued, "Can't I visit my hard working big sis? I was in the area, and remembered you started that private school not too long ago. Just wanted to see you." Looking at her, my eyebrow raised in honest suspicion that she wasn't telling me everything.

I was right, of course, when she sighed. "Alright," she gave in. "Mom and Dad are more worried about you then usual right now. You haven't been picking up their calls for a while, and since they can't reach Ren...they sent me. I was in the area though, honest!" I sighed, turning to my door to unlock and walk inside. Mei slowly walked in and her eyes wandered over everything as she closed the door. "Damn," She breathed. "I've seen decor of all kinds, but...for fuck sake Michi. This looks like a room at the loony bin, much worse one where at the caretakers were murdered." "You were the one who showed up unannounced, you have no ground to complain on. Speaking of which..." Putting my bag on it's hook, I walked over to the dining area and pulled out the chair only to sit across from it.

"You know you could've called me to actually check up on me." "Yeah, I could've," She plopped down in her seat, starting to explain. "But that was until I heard some people talking nearby about some important parent's son disappearing from his school. Once I heard the name, I knew I had to come to you face to face." Aoi. That family is persistent about their child, which is good in other context. I looked down to the table in thought, and Mei sighed, "So you do know who I'm talking about? It's sounding like even your supposed 'connections' are holding up. News got out that they're looking into hiring a private investigator. They mean business."

I have many connections with police to swipe the cases under the rug and have multiple methods to make it look like another copycat killer or someone else, runaways, or simple suicides...now even with those I have to find some other way. Mei leaned forward, grabbing onto my hands lightly, "You know, Mom and Dad can help you in this. Even Grandpa would be happy to help you out with everything he has." "No," I brushed her off, keeping any emotion off of my face. "This is my road to travel, I won't have anyone helping what I have to figure out. With parents like that, they wouldn't believe that they're son would run away. Especially when-" A phone started ringing with the tone of Butterfly by Smile.dk.

"Oh!" Mei chuckled nervously, getting her phone out. Answering the phone and putting it on speaker, she smiled big. "Hi Mom! Hi Dad! I'm at Michi's place, and it's....it's something," she groaned at the last part. Sighing deeply, I spoke up, "Hello Mother. Hello Father." "How are you two? Everything okay....Michi?" Mom asked hesitant. I nodded, "Nothing you need to worry about. It's working like normal, of course." Dad sighed greatly, I could the smile in his voice, "I know you have it under control. Off topic, have you heard from your brother recently? He still won't answer any calls." Looking up at Mei, she quickly shook her head at me. "You know I haven't. If I did, I would've texted you." Before anyone could say anything else, a knock at the door echoed throughout the place. As I walked to the door, Mei quickly hung up the phone to follow me and see who it was.

Opening it revealed it to be the girl I was thinking of at the same moment. Huh, so that's what that feels like. She had dark blue hair reaching to her knees tied in a ponytail and blue eyes looking quite bleak and doleful. With her slumped shoulders and frowning, I could tell she wasn't that good of mood. Sakura Miharutaki, fiancé to Aoi and old leader of the Beautification council. My eyes narrowed, "You're here about Aoi. Well, you found me." "The fact that you know makes this easier for the both of us." Stepping aside, I let her walk inside. As Sakura absorbed the surroundings, Mei tried to stifle her laughs. Walking up to her, she bit her lip, "I remember Michi telling me about you. Aren't you the one who got beat by Mary like...multiple times? And stayed with a man who didn't love you?" Sakura didn't answer with a scowl, but that made Mei laugh even more. She gasped in between her chuckle fits, "Couldn't be me!"

"Ignore my sister. What do you want? It's obviously not justice since the cops aren't with you," I commented, going back to sit down. The other two joined me. "I mean, choosing to stay with Aoi after all that, it's not surprising she didn't go to the cops," Mei continued to laugh. I quickly smacked her in the back of the head, making her wail out in pain. As she finally calmed down, I looked to Sakura, "What do you want?" Her eyes went between me and my sister multiple times before finally staying on me. With a deep breath in, she confirmed, "Yes, I don't have the police with me. I do know you have something to do with Aoi's disappearance. He didn't tell me anything after kicking me out of Full Bloom, so I don't have the full story. But I do know one thing....I want to help you get away with it."
