Breathing in deeply, steading a fast heart beat, I heard my phone vibrating on my bedside table. As I picked it up, I saw that it was about 5:30 in the morning, half and hour before I was suppose to get up for school. Ren was calling me, and I answered as I sat up in bed. "What's the update?" I asked slowly, rubbing sleep out of my eyes and hearing my own lower than usual and husky voice. "Sorry," He apologized. "I didn't mean to wake you up. I just thought you might want to know this." "It's fine, I was already waking up anyway. Know about what?" I swung my legs over the side of my bed, putting on my glasses and starting my morning routine. "Kirari is only the top of the ranks, because she's playing loads of gambles and people have hopes to beat her. After so many, I think she's feeling needy again," Ren explained. I sighed, thanking him for the information and hanging up the phone.
If that's true, she'll be calling on either Yumeko or me soon enough. The good thing about playing her is that she has no other face to hide behind, everything she shows is absolutely her. No digging, no extra information to hold against her....it should be easy. Am I doing something? It is me that's taking so long to finally bring her to justice? No, I have to make it suitable for her. Someone of her kind of creature deserve what they get, so I have to prepare that suffering. A measly kill wouldn't do. Right as I was grabbing my bag, my phone started to vibrate from an unlisted number. "Hello Michi," Kirari's smooth voice sang through the phone speaker. I hummed, "Kirari. Did you need something?" It was like I could hear her smile. She sighed, "I was thinking that you and I could have an election gamble, today." "Have the others not been up to your standards? Too easy?" She laughed.
"I wouldn't put it that way, but let's just keep it like that. All those matches has just been so...dull. All I want is to have some fun, will you help me?~" Having my hand on the doorknob, I didn't respond. I didn't want to, because there was no need to. It seemed she knew it too, as she chuckled into the speaker and whispered, "I'll be in the student council room~" She hung up, leaving me to finally get outside to walk to school.
As I got closer to the building, a familiar face started to form in the crowd. "Good morning, Miss Michi," Rei greeted. I bowed to her, "Good morning, Rei. The clan needs me for something." "Yes, ma'am. If you would follow me, please." I nodded, letting her lead the way to them. She opened the door for me, letting me walk in and see who was there to see me. Everyone from the clan was there, expect Terano oddly enough. Maybe they're taking things into their own hands. My eyes then landed on Ibara and his big smile he was giving me. I said to him, "I assume you told them about our gamble." "Of course, I was the launching pad to your destruction, right brother?" He looked over to Rin, drinking his tea and smiling at him. After nodding to him, he looked to me, "It's only natural in a election to go after others. You shouldn't be surprised about that, Michi."
"I'm not," I quickly answered, walking over to the empty couches to sit. "After the cheap trick you tried to pull, I haven't been surprised for a while with anything you've done." Rin chuckled, putting down his tea, "Now, now. There's no need for insults. In fact, we're actually impressed by you. All of us. You're good, but how much can that good stretch for?" "I wouldn't get fooled by simple swindlers if that answers your question." I saw his eyebrow twitch as he kept that smile up. He was starting to crack, but I can't push too much. Miri stepped up to me, looking me straight in the eye with a hard glare. She stated, "So good that it seems like you have an insider in Momobami clan. Knowing stuff about us that most normal people don't, it's suspicious as hell." "It's a good thing I'm not normal then, right? On the insider comment, I have nothing to say to that." Ibara jumped up, "You do, don't you?" I promptly ignored him, seeing Sumika walk up to me while a small smile.
"You plan on joining the Momobami clan, but for what reason? Why are trying so hard to win the election?" "This isn't just about the election." I simplified. "Kirari and I have a grown a rather...strange but attaching relationship. The rumor of us gambling for the position before everything is true, but I ended it. She was willingly to give me the position to me then, but I need to work towards it. The title of president is simply a bonus, but being head of the Momobami clan will lead into phase 2...and the proper justice for Kirari. I need to shape the garden somehow." As I said the last part, most of their eyes widened hearing it. Erimi shuddered slightly, "Maybe you really are like her. You sure do talk...like..."
Her speech started to slow, seeing me now in her face with a deadly glare and eyes glowing yellow. I said with a now honeyed angelic tone, "I told you all to never say that about me." She froze, staring right back at me while holding her breath. She let out a large breath as I stood up, walking to the door and leaving. I'm already making Kirari wait for me, so why not make her wait even longer? Perhaps I can visit Kaede again, see if he's finally awake. I took my time walking to the hospital wing, and once getting there I saw Itsuki slamming the door behind her. As she did, I saw bits of paper on the floor before she slammed it. His life plan. So he is awake then. She saw me staring and sighed, "Hey Michi, can I ask you something?" "You may."
Her head went down, thinking on something before looking back up at me while some tears filling her eyes. Her voice got wobbly, "I know how you get under people skin when you gamble, dig into their past and stuff they don't want anyone to see. The thing, how do you get someone out of that hole?" Looking over her body language, she was distraught over Kaede. He did lose everything and possibly his family after suffering a huge lost, so the depressive stage was in full swing. I sighed, holding her chin up to look at me fully, "Itsuki, why are you asking me something you already know the answer to? Gambling is the life blood of Hyakkaou Academy, right?" Her eyes widened in realization, staying like that as I took a step back. Shaking her head, she quickly glanced to the door. She asked, "Are you going to see him?" I gave it more thought and shook my head, "I changed my mind. I'll see him later."
"You took your time getting here, Michi~" Kirari smiled at me. I walked into the student council room, seeing her and Sayaka at the end of the long table. "Your family had some things to say to me about the elections," I responded. She chuckled, holding her hand out, "Did you go easy on them?" I was about to answer once more, but I saw Sayaka's face starting to tense up. I do have to judge everyone, so why not kill two birds with one stone. "So you wanted an exciting game?" I started to walk around the table, and she smirked and followed my movements.
"I was going to call onto Yumeko, but then you popped into mind. Someone so exquisite, but in a different way. Pulling me in by a force I've never seen, I just want more of you," She laughed. We stopped in front of each other, staring into the other's eyes glowing bright. She gave a fake pout, "We didn't even get to play last time, so you owe me." I gave Sayaka a quick look to see that she was definitely bothered by this. Perhaps I didn't have to do much to get under her skin, because Kirari's doing the work for me. "I've noticed something," I stated, looking back at her. "The clan has compared me to you so many times recently. Saying that if you didn't tell them about me, then they would've assumed that I was a relative of yours they didn't know about. Honestly, it makes me sick."
My speech simply made her grin even more. "Why would I want to be related to someone whose so disgusting and impulsive that she will let the world collapse because she was bored? Much less be her in anyway, shape, or form." "That's quite enough from you!" Sayaka snapped, "You don't get to-" "That's not the truth," Kirari interrupted her. Sayaka gasped as Kirari took one more close step to me, putting her head on my shoulder. With a huge smile, she saw as my eyes followed her movements. "You love me," She provoked me. "You loathe your deep love for me, coming up with reasons to despise me and ignore that you want me and my power. You want to devour me, and I want you to."
"Are we alike, President?" I asked her quietly. She chuckled, backing up to look my in the eye properly. She answered, "We'd have to explore each other more to find that out." Sayaka clenched her hands together, looking between us for something to tell her what was going to happen. What did tell her was Runa's sudden appearance through the door. Laughing loud, she put some stuff on the table, "Head of the Election Committee, Runa Yomozuki, at your service!"
"Wait....President, don't tell me-" Sayaka trembled. Kirari turned to her with a smile, she nodded, "Oh yes, an election gamble. Everything on the line~" Runa laughed at that, holding up a cup, "The game you're playing is Even or Odd!!"
