The morning came faster than usual for me, and with sister finally gone it was quiet all through the house. I should get ready for school. Going through my usual morning routine, and finishing with my glasses and ace of spades necklace, I headed out with my bag in hand. As I walked towards the building, I thought back on how Yumeko and Kirari was looking at each other yesterday when I left after the gamble. They've been wanting to play each other for a while, so it's only natural that it would finally happen.
I made it there, and it was still a while until classes or anyone I knew would get here, so I had some time to myself. After changing my shoes, I walked towards the outside area to work on future class assignments. On my way there, before I turned a corner, I felt that familiar aura hit me. Kirari. One more step, and I was staring her in the face. "Why, hello Michi.~" She smiled to me. I bowed my head, "Good morning, Kirari. Excuse me." Stepping to the side, I walked around her. "You know," She spoke up, making me stop. "I heard they finally caught Aoi's murderer. It was a student here of all places. Can you believe it?" "With how much power only one student has here, it's not that unbelievable. I'm sure you already know this though, so I shouldn't have to bring up examples." I did want to keep walking, but I already knew she wanted to keep me here longer. I turned around to face her once more, and ended up being closer to me than I first thought. She still had that smile with those eyes, glowing in excitement and curiosity. They studied me heavily, and ended up on my necklace. "I have a request. May I hear the story on your necklace?" She requested. My hand slowly went up to hold the encased card in my hand gently. There was no point in keeping it to myself.
I started, "With my mother working, my father decided to be a house husband. A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to learn how to play poker and gamble. He did a bit of it back in junior high, so he taught me everything he knew. As I kept learning, he compared me to an ace. He described as the card that can help someone win or be someone's downfall. A blessing or curse depending on how the rules are formatted. I held onto that ever since, wearing it like a good luck charm and a reminder where I started and what to bring to the end." She nodded softly, "That's touching, really. Still, it's a shame you're not on the council. Your father raised a good gambler." I didn't response, since I don't like repeating stuff that I know was heard loud and clear. She grinned, "We now have many more seats open, so your still welcome to join us. Oh, wait...that's not what you want. You don't want to be part of it, you want to rule it." She tip toed close to me, leaning forward to whisper in my ear and hold my face with her hands. "You want the throne just has Kaede did, right?" She whispered. I leaned to her ear to whisper, "Kaede wouldn't know what to do with the kind of power you have, Kirari. I actually have a plan, and not just a vague phrase."
Pulling back slightly, she kept those glowing eyes on mine. Inches away from me, feeling her breath on her lips, she chuckled. "Michi," She chimed. "Would you like to gamble with me as well?"
The sun beat down on me as I sat by the water fountain, watching the water flow into itself calmly. Sighing, I took out my phone to ring my brother.
"Wow," He scoffed. "If you're the one calling me first, then this must be important. You usually text." "Ren, I need your opinion on the president." There was a silence for a moment, before he sighed. "Well," he struggled. "To be honest, I think she's fucking nuts, but in one of those calculated and open about it ways. You know what I mean? Much more....mellow." I nodded, thinking to myself. Sighing, I told him, "I may have a way to take a faster route to phase 2." "Oh shit, was I suppose to watch? I was in the bathroom, but I have the thing playing all-" He was starting to ramble again. Stopping him, I heard him finally relax. He sighed, "You did say you'd do anything to make your dream real, right? Anything is worth the risk...right?" I did say that, and anything is worth it.
