"Batsubami...what does that really mean?" I asked Rei, who had her stare back on the TV. The hard glare was gone, but the undivided attention was still there. She looked at me in the corner of her eye, "Why do you need me to explain it if you already know, if I may ask, Miss Michi?" "Not in the general standpoint, more in your thinking. What does Batsubami mean....in your opinion?" She fully turned to me, and there I saw it. Life. Her eyes glowed, but in a more sad and pitiful way. There wasn't fire like when I first turned on the cameras to Sayaka and Yumeko's gamble. She looked me up and down, "You're not like Kirari at all. You talk a lot like Terano more than her. Cut throat, but still somewhat caring enough to leave people alone." I nodded in thought, looking back at the game.
Sayaka has gotten down to the first floor, and picked up a lily. Once 5 minutes passed, it was Yumeko's turn and she was quick to climb right down to the first floor. Looking at Yumeko with wide eyes, she started to laugh, covering her mouth to hide the fact poorly. Yumeko grabbed her lily, looking over at Sayaka strangely, "Huh? What's wrong? Are you okay?" "No, no, no, I'm sorry. It's nothing, really." With 5 minutes signaling, Sayaka excused herself from Yumeko to walk over to one of the ladders. Yumeko smiled, "Right. Let's knock it out of the park."
As Sayaka climbed up, lily in her mouth, she grinned to herself confidently. With each grip that pulled up her to another floor, her heart pumped faster with adrenaline. Questions laid before her that she easily answered, and went climbing until she got there. The top floor to meet her. With a smile, she started to go in for a hug to....Yumeko. Her eyes widened and her skin paled seeing Yumeko in front of her, dropping the lily from her mouth. Yumeko gasped, trying to give it back to her, but Sayaka smacked her hand away. Her body quickly backed up, falling on her back and scrambling to think. "Sayaka," Kirari caught her attention. Slowly looking over at Kirari, she had a large grin on her face, "It's time to wake up. I'm afraid you lost the game."
Click. The TV was soon off, and Rei sighed. I looked over at her and shrugged, getting up to gather our plates and cups. She put a hand onto mine, "Please, let me." "Go Rei, Terano is probably looking for you to report back about the gamble." She stood there stunned for a moment before bowing and leaving for the door. All of a sudden, she stopped. "You've been hurt as well, haven't you?" She asked me. I looked towards her, back to me, "What's your theory?" "Someone you loved was tainted in some way. Wanting to make the world pure...so no one can experience that again," She explained. I huffed, thinking to myself. No one gives her enough credit for her intelligence and observation skills. She hit the nail on the head.
That's when it came back to the idea of comparing me. If I was truly born into the Momobami clan, which branch would I fit into? I stated, "Maybe we're looking at the wrong people here, Rei." She turned around with raised eyebrows. I stared her in the eyes with a steady stare, "Are we more alike, Rei?" It did plant a seed for thought, but she didn't give me a clear answer turning back around to leave the room. As I was left there, I still cleaned up all of our leftovers. All while having the thought in the back of my head; When will everything start to falling place? I went home, watching the rest of the feed of their gamble, then going to sleep after working on some things for classes.
The next morning came around and everything was the same. My morning routine, take care of remains from the night before, and head to school. As I made it to my class, and just about to seat down, someone very familiar busted through the door. "There you are, Shrimp!~" He smiled. Ibara made a B-line towards me, quickly grabbing my arm to pull me with him. "Ibara, if you need something, you can just open your mouth," I ripped away from him. He looked back at me and sighed, "Get your stuff, because you're going to a meeting with me." I quirked up an eyebrow and he just smirked at me. I sighed deeply, throwing my bag on my shoulder and following him to the room. As we walked, he slowed down a bit to be right beside me, looking over at me with a smug smile. I glanced at him and look forward once more.
Busting the door open, he announced and gestured to me, "Look who I brought!" I walked in calmly, looking around. Everyone but Terano, Rei, Sumika, and Nozomi were here, and they didn't look that happy seeing me. Miri grumbled, "We're talking about private matters here, Ibara. She isn't allowed to be here!" "No need to get defensive, Yobami. I have beaten at least 2 of your relatives, so I think that counts for something. As well already knowing that a plan is going to fall into place." Rin chuckled, looking at me, "My, I didn't take you for a cocky type." "You truly have trouble reading people then," I responded, sitting on the couch. His eyebrow twitched slightly, as she his smile flattening slightly. Ibara passed by it, brushing them off quickly.
"It's fine guys. She already knows so much about us, what's having her here hurting?" He scoffed, pulling me with him. I was pulled behind him as he went to sit down, and once settled he tugged to make me fall into his lap. I gasped, whipping my head around to narrow my eyes at him. He grinned even more seeing that, crossing his arms. "I'll get right to the point," He sighed out. "Our odds are bad, that right?" No one answered, which was an answer in itself. He stretched, "Man, away games always suck so bad. And we just can't tell how many votes that student council lot controls." Miyo bit down on her nail hard, not wanting to admit it, "You're right. At this rate, Kirari will keep the presidency in her claws....or we'll end up with someone...unfavorable there instead."
"That's true, but..." Rin started, looking out the large window that dawned the whole wall. "Someone's bound to make a move soon. Terano." "I think you're right," He immediately agreed, grabbing onto me as he leaned forward so I wouldn't fall. Putting a hand to his chin, he pondered out loud, "Although she can be awfully hard to read, too." "It's not much to read from her," I added. They all looked to me. "Time can either help or hurt a person, it's up to them to choose which. Keep in mind, almost everyone in this school is playing, and they might be scheming away now....other than me."
