JOE POV.
"so this is a question for everyone," a young girl with sandy blonde hair and big green eyes spoke into the mic. it was comic con and I was with the stranger things cast on the celebrity panel answering questions from fans to honour the release of season 3. "what was it like working with y/n y/l/n, she is a bigger actress than some of you and amazing."

"well, I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that it was absolutely incredible to have y/n join the cast, and I'm so sad she wasn't well enough to be here today but I did speak to her on the phone and I thought I was speaking to the devil himself," millie joked and everyone chuckled at her response. I was saddened by the fact y/n wasn't here with us, but pushed through nonetheless.

"I have to agree with millie — y/n is such a talented actress!" the rest of the cast began to give there compliments to the absent y/n, before the question was finally turned onto me.

"joe?" winona asked as she finished speaking.

"uhm, yeah," I rubbed my upper lip with the side of my finger as I thought of how to speak of her without revealing my feelings to her. "y/n is... so... brilliant! she's been... yeah, it's been an honour — like gaten said — to work so closely alongside her. I learnt a lot from her — s-so much from her. but she's an even better friend than she is an actress. she's always there for you when you need her and she knows how to make you smile in any situation. I'm... I'm trying not to quote andrew garfield talking about emma stone but... aha.. she really is a ray of sunshine— no. she is the whole sun! and more! i've never ever met someone quite like her."

the crowd 'aww'ed at my response.

"oh shut up, you guys!" I laughed and flung a hand to the crowd.

truth is, i've been crushing on y/n since I was 7 years old and watched her play zenon in zenon: girl of the 21st century. I had been in awe of her and watching her grow up with me through my screen was a big part of my childhood. she's one of the reasons that I wanted to act and acting alongside her was one of my biggest dreams. finally meeting her was incredible, we had clicked almost immediately and my feelings for her only grew.

Y/N POV.
"y/n! we missed you at the comic con celebrity panel!" my interviewer from a small gossip magazine has bright blue hair and spoke with a jovial punch to her voice.

"oh, god! don't! I felt horrible! health-wise and about missing the panel. I was really looking forward to it. meeting the supporters, answering questions!" I responded.

"did you manage to catch it? the interview?" the interviewer wrote some things down on her small notepad.

"yes, I watched the whole thing live on my ipad from bed!" we both laughed.

"so you must've seen joe keery's... speech about you!" I smiled as I thought back to the shower of compliments he had given me.

"I did! yeah!" I kept up my warm smile.

"he seems pretty smitten for you!" she laughed.

"oh, god no! joe? no way. he only sees me as a friend, trust me. I think he might've had a thing for maya maybe, dunno if he still does but definitely not me!" I exclaimed, my heart sinking a little.

I'd liked joe for a while. I'd watched him in season 1&2 of stranger things and he was a lot of my motivation to join their cast for season 3. reading over the script they'd sent me for my part as anastasia, dustin's cousin, I'd noticed so much character development in steve's role and watching his real life personality seep into his character warmed my heart and only further increased my crush on him.
