Chapter 9

Y/ n's POV

It's been a few days since Muichiro's confession and he has been clingy ever since, not that you minded. In fact, you found it adorable that he was finally showing emotion, at least to you.

You couldn't help but feel as if something bad was going to happen that was trying to ruin your relationship.

You sighed heavily as you watched the demon fade to ash whilst placing your katana back in its sheath. You began to walk to the estate, feeling the sunrise prick your skin from behind.

You had been gone for two days, which was way more than enough for Muichiro to worry. He may not show it, but his main concern was you. His feelings for you have grown rapidly since the confession, mainly because you to were official now.

A few hours later, you arrived at the estate to be thrown to the ground from a strong hug. Muichiro clung to you in worry, despite his emotionless expression. You chuckled, hugging him back as he sat in between your legs.

You smirked slightly,
" Someone has missed me. Sorry I'm late, the demon was a pain in the backside,"

He just hummed in response before pulling away and pecking you on the lips,
" As long as your safe, I'm happy,"

" Y/n?"

Your spine shivered from the familiar voice. Your body froze on the spot as adrenaline began to rush through your veins. Out of instinct, you gripped onto Muichiro, confusing him slightly.

You turned around to see the last person you wanted to see. Minato. Your betrothed. He looked like he was about to explode from anger and jealousy.

He stomped over in an aggressive manner before grabbing your arm and ripping you away from Muichiro's grasp, not caring how hard he grabbed you.

Minato gritted his teeth in anger,
" What are you doing with this weakling?! Not to mention you're kissing him!"

Muichiro glared daggers at him as an overwhelming anger consumed him. In the blink of an eye, he was behind Minato. He kicked him, causing him to fly into a tree.

Muichiro grabbed your hand before gently pulling you behind him in a protective manner, earning a pissed off look from Minato. You looked down at the floor in guilt, ashamed that you hadn't yet told Muichiro who he was.

Minato got up,
" Have you even told him who I am, Y/n?"

Muichiro glared at him, but couldn't help but feel curious at to who he was. You squeezed Muichiro's hand in response before shaking your head.

Minato smirked at this as he leant against the tree with his arms crossed,
" Have you told him that you're my betrothed? And that we're getting married in almost two months?"

A part of Muichiro's heart cracked for the very first time. You felt his hand squeeze your own, but you could sense the heartbreak radiating from him.

You exclaimed before stepping in front of Muichiro in defence,
" I never wanted to marry you! You're an arrogant prick who only cares about himself and starting a family. Muichiro actually cares for me, and I love him more than I'll ever love you!"

Minato glared at you, sending shivers down your spine. You didn't mean to have an outburst like that, but for some reason, you couldn't hold your anger back anymore. You wanted to be heard. You couldn't be silent any longer.

Minato snapped,
" Have it your way then! But I promise you, this isn't the end! We will get married and we will have a life together,"

He then disappeared in a cloud of black and dark green smoke. You failed to notice the tears that were streaming down your cheeks like waterfalls.

You glance at Muichiro to see him staring at the floor with an emotionless expression. You sobbed, not wanting your relationship to end as you tried to hold his hand again, only for it to be swatted away.

Muichiro asked,
" Why didn't you tell me you were engaged?"

You've never seen him so pissed off before, or at least sensed him. Your voice cracked with every word as an unimaginable pit formed in your stomach from regret and fear,
" I didn't want us to be the end, I thought I'd escaped my life, but I was to naive. I'm so sorry, Muichiro,"

The silence was once again defeaning before he turned away,
" Leave me alone for a while, I need to think, "

The sound of the shoji doors slammed in the estate as you fell onto the floor in a crying mess. You should have known that you couldn't escape your own life, no matter how hard you tried. Your nightmare will always follow you.

Minato's POV

He glared at himself in the mirror, anger and jealousy was all he could feel. He wanted to marry you, for the throne and the kingdom. He knew from the start you didn't like him, but as long as your parents trusted him, he was one step closer to success.

His only problem was Muichiro. Minato was always taught to get rid of his problems, meaning there was only one way to do that.

He had to kill Muichiro.

He walked over to his bed before pulling a box from under it, to reveal a collection of daggers and knives. They weren't just any knives, they had the power to kill an immortal being. This was possible because he had been given a spell from a goddess to do so.

But power always came with a price.

He killed his sister for it, a soul for a soul. Obviously, he set her death up and blamed it on his uncle, who was now in a strong, heavily guarded prison for no reason.

" I will kill you. I'll do whatever it takes to make Y/n mine,"
