The bright light from the flashlight illuminated the figure, that of Dr. Greery. The broad man stood tall, shoulders back, with a metal rod in his grasp, about 10 feet away.

Peter held out his hands in an attempt to show he wasn't armed.

"Doctor, please put down the pipe."

"This experiment has taken too much effort and too many losses for a latex-wearing vigilante to destroy it!" He shouted. "Now, out! Before I phone even more guards to take you out!"

Peter began backing up slowly, all while facing Greery. "Ok, ok. We're going to slowly exit the room and-"

Peter cut himself off to lift his arm and shoot the pipe out of the brunette's hands. Greery started to break into a sprint before Parker webbed his legs together, causing him to fall.

Once the man was successfully tied and muted with webs, Peter stood back up, joining Cam in their examination of the lab.

They found two backup lights and switched them on. While it wasn't enough to cover the entire room with light, there was still enough to ditch the flashlight.

The pair went in separate directions, Cam still wincing every so often.

"Are you sure you're ok, Cam?'

"I strongly believe it's broken, but as I said, we're not leaving until we find what you're looking for."

"Thanks for sticking with me. After we leave, I can walk you to the ER?"

"Sounds good," she turned to face him across the room. "Thank you," she smiled a genuine smile.

Peter's heart dropped. This was a smile reserved for Spider-man only. Sure, when you save someone from imminent danger, you're bound to get sweet looks. It was just hard knowing that she was forming different personalities for Peter and Spider-man. It was all part of the job.

"Of course. It's my job, and you've helped me a lot. Admittedly, my windpipes would've broken if you didn't get that guy away from me."

She gave him another one of her smiles and went back to searching the tables and drawers.

Peter went further into the room to find five giant holding tubes. Some had funky-looking plants, and some had liquids, but the one in the middle had a black blob. Oil? Tar? Peter couldn't tell. He went up to the code-locked tube and put his gloved hand to the glass.

He was taken by surprise as the blob shot up and squirmed around in its space. He jumped back in fear but approached the tube again.

"What is that?" Peter murmured to himself.

Hearing footsteps behind him, he turned only to recognize Cam. He sighed with relief as she moved next to him.

"Is that...?"
