Jet stared at the other man as he formed two fists on his thigh during the quiet car trip home. Jacob's smell was different, he knew something was wrong, but he thought it was just the fact that he had been in the hospital for over three months. His stomach sank when his thoughts traveled toward the question What was the press going to say? Now that his and Jacob's relationship was exposed, everyone around the world wanted answers. Jet's train of thought was interrupted as the older man reached across and grabbed his hand. "I can hear you thinking..." He chuckled.
"S-S-Sorry, I just have a lot on my mind right now." Jet answered.
Jacob observed the other for a long moment, his lips pressed into a thin line. "You're so skinny, didn't Alphonso feed you?" The older male questioned.
Jet looked down at his belly, putting his arms over himself. It was obvious that he had lost weight; he was simply hoping the human wouldn't notice. "Some, it wasn't the same." He eventually responded.
"You know I worry about you Jet, why didn't you let him take care of you?" Jacob asked.
"I thought I lost you; it was my fault you were in the field. If I didn't run off, you wouldn't have been hurt." Jet muttered.
Jacob sighed, "It's not your fault Jet, plus I am fine." He argued.
"You don't smell fine..." The male Neko thought.
"Listen, I don't want you to think that it was your fault. You were ecstatic to be in a new place and were completely immersed in the moment. Even if I knew I was going to be shot, I would have run in front of you." Jacob elaborated.
"Too late..." The Neko muttered under his breath.
The couple made it back home ten minutes later, Jet rushed around the other side of the car. Opening the vehicle and wrapping his arms around Jacob's neck. "I can walk Jet." He stated.
"You've been in a bed for three months; your legs might still be weak." He argued.
The human let out a defeated sigh, as the chubby male slowly led the human inside, kicking the door closed behind him Jet gently guided him to his room, before gently setting him down on the bed. "Do you need anything?" Jet questioned, slipping off Jacob's shoes.
Jacob shook his head, thinking to himself for a moment before speaking. "If I ask you a question, would you answer honestly?" Jacob quizzed.
"Of course, I would," Jet replied.
"Do you know how much you lost?" The human asked.
The question made Jet flinch, "Hundred or so..." He trailed off.
Jacob let out a hum, gesturing for the other to sit down next to him. Jet cocked his head to the side slowly crawling onto the bed and curled up next to Jacob's leg. "Looks like we have some catching up to do. Why don't you grab my phone, and we can order you some food." He suggested.
Jet tapped his tail against the bed, as his stomach let out a low growl. "I think you should rest first. You need to regain your strength for the press." Jet offered.
Jacob shook his head, "Let Alphonso handle all of that, I haven't seen you for three months." The other begged.
Jet let out a gentle sigh as he made a noise in the back of his throat. Jacob threw his arm around Jet's waist as the man approached, bringing him into his chest. "I know you're worried, but all I want to do is spend time with you." He ran his slender fingers over Jet's hair, whispering.
"You can't pretend like it didn't happen!" Jet yelled, pulling himself away from the human. "Stop acting like you're okay!" He yelled as he slid off the bed.
