Chapter Two

When I told myself that I'm willing to do anything for money... for Kobe... that was serious.

Zevero Montalvo, no matter how twisted he may be... he was still like an angel in disguise for me. His offer was the best. Kahit saang parte ng mundo ako maghanap... hindi ko makakatanggap ng ganoong pera.

Pero meron pa ring pagdadalawang isip sa'kin.

Magbubuntis ako... Sarili kong dugo... Sarili kong anak. Kaya ko bang basta na lang ito iwan kapag kailangan ko nang umalis?

I sighed and massaged my temple. I just slept for almost two hours. Hindi ako makatulog kakaisip sa offer ni Zevero. Naaalala ko pa rin ang huling sinabi niya kagabi.

"I'll give you time to think... But please know that I'm not patient."

"Doc..."

Natigilan ako sa malalim na pag-iisip nang tumawag ang assistant ko. I just smiled at her and fixed my lab coat. Mukhang kanina pa pala niya ako tinatawag.

"Oh, sorry. What is it again?" I asked and smiled at her.

"May walk-in patient po na gusto magpa-consult... Big time at pogi," bulong niya pa sa huling sinabi.

Natatawang napailing na lang ako. "Papasukin mo na lang."

Sumilip siya sa labas. "Pwede na raw po kayong pumasok, Sir."

Natigilan ako nang si Zevero Montalvo ang pumasok sa silid. Muntik na akong matumba sa upuan ko nang makita siya.

He looks manly with his fitted gray polo shirt. Built pa lang nito, halatang athlete na. He was also wearing shades that made him look manlier. His hair was neatly slicked back.

I stood up when my assistant left. I just cleared my throat and acted calm and composed.

"W-what are you doing here, Mr. Montalvo?" I asked.

"A feisty woman named Melanie told me to consult a dentist," he said, then he casually sat on the couch.

He removed his shades and crossed his legs. He gestured to me to come closer. I sighed and did what he wanted.

"How did you know that I'm working here?" I asked.

"The bar owner told me," tipid na sagot niya saka napapikit at pinatunog ang buto sa leeg.

Napabuga ako ng hangin saka lumapit sa kaniya. "Please open your mouth... I'll check your teeth."

Zevero slightly tilted his head. "I'm not here for that. I want your answer now."

Kulang na lang masamid ako sa sariling laway sa diretsang sinabi niya.

"I-I thought you'll give me time to think..." I murmured.

"Yeah. I gave you ten hours to think. The 'ten hours' is done. I want your answer now..." He glanced at my name plate. "Kyla Marigold Endrano."

I bit my lower lip and played with my fingers. "B-but..."

"Ms. Endrano... You have all the rights to decline. I can just find another woman," he said and put his shades on his chest. "Okay, then..." He stood up. "I think I'll just find another—"

"No!" Agad akong humawak sa dibdib niya nang akmang lalabas siya. "I-I accept! I'll bear your child for you..."

Zevero held his nape and stared at me. Halos nakatungo na yata siya sa akin dahil masyado siyang matangkad. I didn't even reach his neck.

"Are you sure, Ms. Endrano?" he asked, then took a step forward. "I'm not forcing you... I honestly just chose you out of whim. I found you cool for some weird reason... but if this job is something too much for you to take... Then decline my offer." He grinned. "But it will never be my loss but yours."
