leaving like a father

no one told me
a father's love
is shown as a steel fist
and an angry shout
a forceful palm
a head that's never calm
no one told me
a father's love
is contemptuous
a patience that's
a little short fuse
and if my father's love
could speak in words
all it would say is
"i love you, my ever disappointing daughter. i never quite understood you but i think i do because i am your father and i should know every single thing about you. don't ever question my decisions for your own sake, you do not talk to me in that tone. how are you? you should've listened to me and now you're like that,"

and now i understood
why my mother is a better man
than my father ever will
