Int – Patty Wood's Livingroom - 11:30 P.M.
Patty walked inside and was startled by Chuck sitting in his chair half reading a newspaper.
PATTY
"Daddy, you scared me. I didn't see you there."
CHUCK
"You're home early. Did he mind his manners?"
Patty laughed.
PATTY
"Yes, dad, Graham was quite the gentleman."
CHUCK
"Will we be seeing more of... this Graham fellow?"
PATTY
"He asked me to marry him."
Chuck dropped the paper and stood up.
CHUCK
"What? He did what?"
PATTY
"Relax, dad. I'm just kidding."
Patty thought she almost gave her father a heart attack.
PATTY (cont'd)
"I'm going to bed. Have a good night."
CHUCK
"Oh, I almost forgot. You have a visitor in your room."
Patty looked up to the top of the staircase. She didn't even have to think. She knew who it was.
CUT TO:
Int – Patty Wood's Bedroom - 11:35 P.M.
Camille is seen sitting on Patty's bed and shuffling through a case of forty five's. She pulled out a vinyl still sealed in plastic, and she looked shocked.
The door opened and Patty walked in. Camille lifted up the unopened album and showed it to Patty.
CAMILLE
"Since when do you listen to the Grateful Dead?"
PATTY
"It's for a friend."
CAMILLE
"Patty, we have to talk. It's fine and all if you want to make new friends, but..."
PATTY
"But what, Camille?
CAMILLE
"Graham Chase? Really?
PATTY
"Are you still on this? Get over yourself, Camille. He's just a boy."
CAMILLE
"And I'm supposed to be your best friend. I'm just looking out for you."
PATTY
"Camille, I really don't have time for..."
Patty began to quickly feel dizzy. She palmed her forehead with one hand and used the other to grab hold of one of her bedposts.
CAMILLE
"Jesus, Patty, are you o.k.?"
PATTY
"I don't think so, Camille. Can you get my dad?"
Patty fell onto the bed and closed her eyes.
Camille ran to the door and opened it.
CAMILLE
"Mr. Wood, come quick. Something's wrong with Patty."
Camille went back to the bed and sat with her friend.
