29. Christmas present

"What did you say to him? Wow baby~ you're just amazing!"

Namjoon glanced at Jungkook in disbelief and whispered to Jin. Jin answered with a light hum and savored the food in front of him. He expected but wasn't sure how Jungkook would act, and he was happy to see Jungkook sitting down to dinner with them now. For a brief moment, Yoongi's eyes met his, and when he felt regret in those eyes, Jin snorted.

"No, Tae! That's spicy!"

Suddenly, Jungkook's voice urgently stopped Taehyung, and all of them turned their eyes to him. Taehyung, who reached out for the chicken wings, frozen in surprise and bit his lip.

Shit!

Jungkook was also flustered. It was inevitable that his eyes would follow Taehyung's every move. Jungkook thought it was fortunate that Taehyung couldn't see his face. He deliberately talked to Yoongi but watched Taehyung throughout the meal. And, when he, who can't eat spicy food, tried to eat spicy chicken wings, he couldn't just watch. Anyway, he hadn't expected that he would stop him so violently, and he frowned in embarrassment at everyone's curious stares directed at him.

"Um... I've been with him on the same unit for the past few months. I don't think it's strange to know a little bit about him."

Yoongi shook his head, snorting at Jungkook, who urgently made an excuse. He already knew that Jungkook was talking to him and pretending to be looking at him, but in fact he was looking at Taehyung the whole time. But at least he was grateful that Jungkook didn't lock himself in the room anymore. Well, Yoongi was quite used to seeing Jungkook always acts like an idiot, when it comes to Taehyung.

"Tae, eat this. It's not spicy."

When Jimin put the other piece of chicken on a plate and spoke kindly, Taehyung smiled and nodded, but Jungkook, seeing them like that, frowned involuntarily.

Don't look at him so directly! Asshole! Don't you know he's uncomfortable with it? 

And, Jungkook was startled by his mind that came to him in an instant. He felt strange to himself when he realized that he wasn't just disapproving of Jimin being friendly with Taehyung, but that he was primarily concerned about Taehyung's discomfort.

"You love him..."

Jin's words echoed in his ears. 

"Kook, you okay?"

"Um?"

Jungkook looked at Yoongi as if he had come to his senses when he heard him calling. And the moment they faced each other, a bitter smile came to them for a very brief moment.

After dinner, they followed Jungkook to the lobby. And, as Yoongi already told them, the staff there did a really good job even though they completely hide their existence. They all approached excitedly at the tall fir tree placed near the fireplace.

"Wow~ You can make a Christmas tree out of a real tree! It looks so pretty that I don't think it needs any decorations."

Jimin's eyes sparkled as if he was watching something novelty. Yoongi huffed at Jimin, who was excited as if he had encountered something new. Of course, he was also amazed at the many aspects of this place, but seeing Jimin express his admiration for every little thing gave him quite a bit of fun.

"Smells good..."

Taehyung's low voice made Jungkook's heart ache again.
