Rain x Reader - Blue Moon

I just realized that I haven't done any Rain fics yet, so Ima fix that.

You needed to stay up for a few more hours to keep working on some paperwork Seestor left for you. You slip out of the room for a moment to grab some coffee from the kitchen. You catch a glimpse of the moon from a window. It's blue, you've never seen a blue moon before.

Rain's down there, watching as the coffee drips into the pot and looks up at you when you come in.

"Oh, hi Rain," you say, "Why are you still up?"
Rain blinks at you and looks back at the table.
"Are you alright?" you ask.
Rain nods slowly.

"You feel okay?" You ask, putting your hand on his shoulder.
He nods again, looking like he's going to cry. You frown and cup his face.

"Rainy, what's wrong?" You ask, gently rubbing his cheek with your thumb.
He shakes his head.

"Tell me what's wrong."
"I...I can't...I..."
"Rain, talk to me." You say. "I want to help you, you know you can tell me anything,"

He shakes his head again, his eyes still red and his lower lip quivering.
"I can't. I can't because...because..."

"Because why? Tell me what the matter is." You say, gently rubbing his head.
"Because..." He starts to cry.

You sigh and sit down at the table. You start gently rubbing his head. "Rain, listen to me. Tell me what's wrong."

He continues to cry and says nothing.
"Rain, I can help you. Tell me what's wrong."
"I hurt." He whimpers, tears starting to slip from his eyes.

"What hurts? Where does it hurt?" You ask.
He starts to scratch at his arms. "My skin..." He whimpers. "I hurt."

"Calm down, it's going to be alright. Just tell me what hurts," You say.
"My skin... I hurt. Bad." He whimpers some more and tears flow from his eyes.

"Rainy, do you need pain killers? A hot bath? A cold shower? What do you need? tell me," you ask.

He shakes his head and continues to cry. You run your fingers through his hair.
"Rain? Do you need to go to the lake? Do you need to go for a swim?" You ask.
He nods, looking at you with big, sad, puppy dog eyes.

You look over him. His skin looked clammy and dry, he seemed to to itching under his skin.
"Rain? Do you feel dry?" You ask.
He nods quickly.

"Do you want to go for a swim?"

Another quick nod.

"Alright, I'll go get changed and meet you in the living room." You say.
You hurry up to your room to change into your bathing suit and hurry back to Rain.

He's whimpering still and clawing at his gills.
"Oh Rainy, don't do that, you'll hurt yourself," you say, pulls his hands away from his neck.
You wrap him in a towel and take him out to the court yard.

"C'mon, we're going for a swim. You ready?"
He nods, still sniffling. You walk him out to the lake, holding onto his arms, all the way to the dock.

You turn to see him sniffing and wiping his nose on his arm, looking back at you. You nod and he dives into the lake, disappearing into the dark waters of the lake.

You wade in a little ways, the water barely at your hips, before you see Rain re-surface again, looking a little more like himself, but a little different. He has more fins and some more gills, but he seemed better.

You sit on the dock and wait for him to come up for air. When he does, he'll grab onto the edge of the dock and push off, swimming back into the deepest part of the lake.

You watch as he swims to the surface, his head popping up out of the water. You smile at him.

"Hey Rainy, you feel better?" You ask.
He nods and takes a deep breath. "Yeah,"
You smile and he grabs your arms and pull you deep into the water with him.

"Rain!" You squeak out before the cold water engulfs your body.

He holds onto your forearms and kicks his feet.
You try to kick your feet, but your limbs are sluggish and your head is starting to throb. You start tapping his arms and he pulls you back to the surface.

You gasp for air and Rain chuckles.
"Sorry, I forgot you can't breathe under water," he says, pushing a lock of wet hair out of his face.

You're starting to shiver. You wrap your arms around his neck and he wraps his arms around yours. He kisses you gently on the lips.

"Now do you feel better?"
He nods. "Yeah, much,"

You laugh and he laughs with you. You lean in and he kisses you again. This time he kisses back. Your heart flutters and you break the embrace. You look at him and smile. His eyes are bright, like the ocean at dawn. You reach your hands up and touch his face.

"Thanks for being my friend,"
You say, "I love you."
"I love you too," He smiles.

You turn away from him and start back to shore.
When you reach the shore, you turn to see that he's already gone. He's back under the water.
You sit on the dock while you watch him swim. He looks back at you and gives you a little wave. You wave back.

When he gets to the shore, he turns to you and smiles. You smile back, but he's already gone. He's back under the water.

You sit on the dock while you watch him swim. You see his tail skim the surface of the water here and there.

He waves you over and you hop off the dock, wading into the water up to your hips, and Rain swims up to you.

He grasps your hands and pulls you under the water with him. You gasp for air as he holds you up from under the water. He releases your hands and you kick your way back to the surface.

He's grinning at you. You grin back.
You both swim back to the shore. You push your wet hair out of your face and Rain giggles.

"I can't believe you made me do that. You're so bad," You say. Rain giggles.
"No I'm not," he says. "You brought me out here," He looks at you. "I wanted to do that the whole time."

You grab his shoulders and push him up to your lips. You lean in and he leans in too. You push your tongue into his mouth and he pushes his tongue into yours.

You wrap your arms around him and pull him tight against you. He wraps his arms around yours and pulls you close to him. He pushes you onto your back, so your laying partially in the water. He lays down beside you and you lay down on top of him. You close your eyes and lay your head on his chest.

"You smell so good, you know that?" You ask. You nuzzle his neck. You can feel his heart beating. You can feel his body heat. You can feel his love.

"I love you," You whisper in his ear. "I love you too."
He kisses you softly. "I don't want to waste another second. Not one,"

He kisses you again.
You wrap your arms around his neck and pull him to you and you fall asleep.

You wake up in Rain's bed, wrapped in a towel.

Rain's sleeping next you you, his face buried in your hair, his tail wrapped around your thigh. You brush your fingers through his hair and watch him in the dim light of dawn creeping in through the window.
