"It seems unlikely that the rain will stop anytime soon''. As the raindrops pounded against the umbrella, Utahime sighed. "Mei We really ought to call it a night, in my opinion. The rain is only getting worse," Utahime says. While keeping in step with Mei, who's been quiet after explaining the job to Iori.

"Utahime couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration building up inside her as they continued to walk in the heavy downpour.". She knew that continuing to walk in the heavy rain would only make matters worse, both for their physical well-being and for the success of their mission. As they trudged through the wet streets, Utahime couldn't help but wonder if there was a better plan they could come up with to tackle the job ahead.

Mei then stopped her pace, "something does not feel right," she said. Utahime looked at Mei, her frustration momentarily replaced by curiosity. She trusted Mei's instincts and knew that her partner had a knack for sensing danger. With a furrowed brow, Utahime scanned their surroundings, searching for any signs of trouble that might have triggered Mei's unease.

"What is it, Mei?" Utahime questions

"The street lights," Mei says, looking at the street lights ahead of them.

"Street lights?" Utahime raises a brow, looking around the street they've been walking on. "You're right they have been flickering. Maybe it's happening because of the rain," Utahime suggests trying not to worry too much about the situation.

Mei nods, her eyes fixed on the flickering lights. "It's possible, but it's not just one or two lights," she says, her voice tinged with concern. "It's almost as if they're flickering in a pattern, like some kind of coded message." Utahime's heart skips a beat as she realizes that Mei's unease was justified-there was definitely something off about these street lights.

"Be on guard; there could be a curse nearby," Mei says. Iori's mind races with possibilities as she considers Mei's warning. She knows that curses can be dangerous and unpredictable, so she decides to stay vigilant and keep an eye out for any other unusual occurrences in the area.

She nods as they continue walking along the street. "About the girl you were looking for as your birds spotted any sign of her," Utahime asks

Mei shakes her head and says, "No, not yet. The birds haven't found any trace of her. But we'll keep searching; she can't have vanished completely."

"Isn't it possible she's long gone by now? She could've hitched a ride or snuck onto a bus." Utahime says

"That's true, but we have ten minutes left. The area is pretty big, and since we left the orphanage, there haven't been any signs of bus stops."

"Alright, but as soon as ten minutes are up, we're heading back and can continue to look for this Hanako girl tomorrow," Utahmie says.

Mei does not respond; she just smirks and keeps walking ahead at a determined pace. Her eyes scan the surroundings, searching for any trace of Hanako. The thought of giving up after just ten minutes doesn't sit well with her. She believes that Hanako is still nearby, hiding or waiting for help. Mei's intuition tells her that they need to keep searching, even if it means going beyond their allotted time. Both Mei and Iori reached the end of the street that they were walking on, stopping at a crossroad. "Should we go right, or should we go left?" she ponders.

Mei considers the options, weighing the possibilities in her mind. She knows that choosing the wrong direction could waste precious time, but she also understands that they can't afford to miss any potential leads. With a determined expression, Mei makes a decision and confidently points to the left, trusting her gut feeling to guide them toward Hanako's whereabouts.

"Left, but that's the street with all the flickering lights," Utahime pouts. "Shouldn't we go right?"

Mei glances at Utahime, her brows furrowing in contemplation. She understands Utahime's concern about the flickering lights, but her gut feeling tells her that left is the way to go. Taking a deep breath, Mei reassures Utahime, "I know it seems risky, but something tells me that Hanako might be on that street. I fully trust my instincts and let's give it a shot."

"Okay, let's go," Utahime said, giving herself the confidence to keep going. With newfound determination, Utahime follows Mei's lead, and they head toward the left. Her pulse is thumping with suspense as they move into the unfamiliar neighborhood, the flickering lights continuing to produce an ominous glow.

Mei takes a moment to create another crow and releases it to search the street they just walked into. Utahime watches the crow soar into the night sky, its wings blending with the darkness. As they wait for any sign of danger or clues about their target's whereabouts, Utahime's anticipation grows, hoping that the crow's keen senses will uncover something significant. With each passing second, their chances of finding Hanako seem to hang in the balance.

The time feels like it is going by slowly as they continue walking under the flickering street lights. Silence grows between them, with only the sound of their footsteps and the rain filling their ears. Utahime's heart pounds in her chest, the weight of their mission weighing heavily on her. She can't help but wonder if they are getting closer or if they are simply chasing shadows in the night. The tension in the air is palpable, making every step feel like a crucial decision that could make or break their search for Hanako.

While moving forward, Mei connects back with the crow she sent out ahead of them. From the viewpoint of the crow, it seems to have followed a glow, an eerie one different from the street lights. Mei is about to inform Iori when the peaceful sound of the rain is broken by a frightening scream that echoes out into the air.

"Utahime, let's go," Mei says as her crow follows the sound of the scream, showing a hollowed-out image of a girl being crushed by a cursed spirit. Quickly, both Mei and Iori begin to run in the direction of where Mei Crow is hovering.

"Did your crow find where the scream was coming from?" Utahime pants while they run, her heart pounding in her chest.

Mei nods, her eyes fixed on the glowing figure in the distance. "Yes," she replies, her voice filled with determination. "We need to hurry before it's too late." As they both get closer, the street lights start flickering uncontrollably. It's right here, Mei says, as they both turn right into the entrance of the alley.

They both stopped to breathe. seeing a red cursed spirit attacking what looked like a young girl beneath it, its arm pressing against her back.

Before both Mei and Iori could react to the cursed spirit, its body exploded in front of them, along with the light in the alleyway bursting and the other two street lights behind them. A terrifying sense of cursed energy sent shivers down Iori's spine. Even the feeling broke Mei's usual calm composure. Suddenly, it just vanished.

"It's gone," Utahime said, "But what in the world was that?" She looked over at Mei, and her voice trembled.

"Mei's eyes widened in shock as she gasped for breath." "I have no idea," she replied, regaining her calm composure. "But whatever it was, it felt incredibly powerful." Utahime nodded in agreement, her expression filled with concern.

"Let's go see if the girl is okay," Mei said she was walking further into the alley, pulling out a flashlight she had in her pocket. Iori followed along, doing the same. The light flashed onto the girl lying unconsciously on the floor.

"It's definitely her"

Hearing Mei's words fill her ears, she thinks, "You mean Hanko Shiro, the girl we've been looking for this whole time?"

"Yes, I think I understand somewhat why Gakuganji Senei wants us to bring her back with us." Help me pick her up." She looked at Iori.

Slightly confused about what Mei meant by that Iori quickly closed her umbrella, and she helped pick up Hanako, placing her fully into Meis's arms. "Look, she's already starting to heal." "Utahime's eyes widened as she placed the flashlight on Hanako, and her wounds slowly began to heal, closing up before her very eyes.

"Thank goodness, she's still alive. Also, how much of the hour did we go over trying to find her?" Utahima looks back up at Mei.

"We didn't go over, Mei said, looking at her watch. The hour just finished; it just turned midnight." At the same time, the rain had stopped.
