Promise

(Day 36)

I woke up quite refreshed than I would normally be. My vision did not return back and I was not going to give up hope just yet. I can remember that night very clearly as if it was just last night.

I lifted my hand towards my lips and slowly touched it. Surely the tingles were still there though it was not as strong as it was that night obviously. Dropping my hand back to my side, I laid still.

I inhaled slowly and focused on the chirps and slight breeze that was hitting my window. It was relaxing to hear the little birds chirping away, it was their way of saying good morning.

A soft small smile formed upon my lips as I listened to them chirp away. I was too consumed into the chirping that I did not hear my bedroom door open until I felt someone slid into bed next to me.

"What are you smiling about?" Loanne's soft voice said to me.

"I am smiling because of the birds." I whispered as my smile never slipped away.

"The birds? Why are you smiling because of the birds?" Confused Loanne asked me as she shuffled about in the bed.

I laughed and nodded my head slightly. "Yes... because of the birds my dear."

I can feel the side of the bed slightly shake and knew that it was Loanne shaking her head.

"You are weird this morning... But I like that. I missed hearing your laugh." Loanne said to me as finally stayed still.

"Yes... I also miss hearing it as well..." I wandered off into silence.

There was nothing for us to say after that. I did not mind it at all, I was actually pleased and happy that Loanne decided to join me this morning.

I was going to make things right.... make it right before I leave this place forever.

The wind blew against my face as Loanne pushed me through the park in my wheelchair. Closing my eyes, I enjoyed the cool breeze as well as the sun hitting on my face. It was the best combination.

I opened my eyes when Loanne finally found a spot for us to sit. I turned my head and at her as she sat down on the bench beside me.

I heard a shuffling to know that she packed some drinks and snacks for us. I felt something cold slid into my hand and as I grasped my fingers around it, I figured out that it was just a water bottle.

"Be careful dear... the cap isn't there. Don't want water to spill over you." Loanne said.

I nodded my head and murmured a thanks before taking a small sip of the water before handing it back to her.

"Do you want something to eat?" Loanne fired off another question at me. I shook my head and laughed a bit.

"We just had lunch Loanne... I am still quite full but don't worry, if I am hungry I will tell you."

"Alright... you better." She said as I heard a chip bag being shuffled about. Knowing Loanne right now, she is probably stuffing her face with chips.

We sat in silence as the only sound that was really loud was the bag of chips being crumpled.

"I don't know how to ask you this Promise..." Loanne started off as I slightly turned my head to her.

"Ask me what?" I said softly as another cool breezy lightly fanned me.

"Since I don't know what is really going on inside your body... which is scaring me because I don't know what day I will come into your room and see you not waking up..." She wandered off as I hissed audibly.

"Which is why I decided to make one decision that I am not hoping to regret at all and i do have a feeling you will not like to hear..." She wandered off once again.

"Loanne please tell me what you want to ask? I want to know..." I said to her as I felt my hands slightly tighten together.

"I feel like we should call them " She said.

I didn't answer, all that was running through my head when she finished what she was saying was the feeling of disbelief and anger. I had to calm myself down, reminding myself that Loanne was doing this for me... possibly for herself as well.

"Calling them... I don't want too." I said after a while.

"Why?" Loanne countered back.

"Because knowing them... and him. They will try their best to not let me leave... and if I end up leaving in front of them. Their anger will be pointed at you..."

"So? Promise. I don't care if they get angry with me. I want you to be happy and let you finish things before you go" Said Loanne.

As she was speaking, i could not help but shake my head. She did not get what I was trying to say.

"No Loanne you should not be saying that... if they direct their anger at you, you will be in danger!" I said to her in a quiet deadly voice.
