Matthew Espinosa:
You were in history, and a boy named Matt, who sat in front of you turned around to ask what you got for the third question.
You replied with your answer, he smiled and turned back around.
You had known this boy since you started school. You were friends, but you couldn't deny how he had always caught your eye.
You looked down at your paper to hide your blushing when the teacher sternly asked for no talking.
A few minutes later, Matt turned around again. He had a folded piece of paper in his hand. He gently held it out in front of you, his brown eyes full of a nervous excitement.
Before you could take the note from him, you found another hand grasping the folded words from Matt.
"Passing notes, Espinosa?" Your teacher said, standing beside your desk. The whole class looked and your face turned red.
"Well I... Um..." The boy fumbled, desperately trying to find words.
The teacher unraveled, and read the note to himself.
"Don't do it again." The teacher gave the note back to Matt, and smiled slightly.
It always bothered you as to what the note said. Matt shoved it into his pocket from embarrassment, and you figured it was best to not press on the matter.

*10 years later*
"Remember the times we had here?" You asked Matt fondly as you sat under a tree in front of your old high school.
"How could I forget?" Matt held your hand in his a little tighter. "There's something I want to finally give you." He said with a familiar nervous excitement in his brown eyes.
From his pocket, he handed you an old crumpled note.
Automatically you knew what it was. At long last, you unfolded your greatest mystery.
In worn looking pencil marks, you made out a teenage boy's handwriting.
"I love you." You read aloud.
"That was the first time I tried to say how much I love you , if you say yes, I promise that it won't be the last." He smiled at you sweetly.
Before you could ask what he meant, Matt descended onto one knee.
"Will you marry me?"
