He picks up a broom and places it over a trap door
Rapunzel: Varian, why couldn't you stay calm for once instead of flying off the handle

Varian: I'm through with accepting limits cuz someone says there so but till I try I'll never know! Too long I've been afraid of losing love I guess I've lost well if that's love, it comes at much too high a cost! Kiss me goodbye I'm defying gravity and you can't pull me down!
The guards bang on the door to the attic
Guard: Open this door, In the name of his supreme Wizardness
Varian: Ah May Ah Tay Ah Tum Ditum....
Rapunzel(as Varian is chanting): What are you doing?! Stop it! That's what started all this in the first place..... That hideous levitation spell! STOP!!!
Varian stops chanting
Rapunzel: Well... Where are your wings? Maybe your not as powerful as you think you are...
A broomstick floats across the room toward Varian
Varian: I did it!, Rapunzel.... I did it!
The Guards bang on the door again
Varian: Quick! Get on!
Rapunzel: What?!
Varian: Come with me.... think of what we could do.... together... (singing) unlimited, together we're unlimited together we'll be the greatest team there's ever been, Rapunzel dreams the way we planned 'em
Rapunzel: If we work tandem
Both: Just you and I defying gravity with you and I defying gravity
Varian: They'll never bring us down. (speaking) Well are you coming?
Rapunzel: Var, your trembling.... here, put this around you...
Rapunzel drapes a black cape over Varian's shoulders
Rapunzel: I hope your happy now that your choosing this
Varian: you too. (singing) I hope it brings you bliss
Both: I really hope you get it and you don't live to regret it I hope you're happy in the end! I hope you're happy.... my friend!
Varian runs off as the guards break down the door they grab Rapunzel thinking she is Varian
Rapunzel: What in Carona?! Let go of me! Do you hear me! Let go!
Varian: That's not me. Rapunzel has nothing to do with this. I'm the one you want. It's me. hahahahaha. I'm up here!
Varian rises to the center of the room holding his broom
Varian: So if you care to find me look to the western sky as someone told me lately, everyone deserves the chance to fly! And if I'm flying solo at least I'm flying free! to those who ground me, take a message back from me! Tell them how I am defying gravity!!! I'm flying high defying gravity!!! And soon I'll match them in renown and nobody in all of Carona.... No wizard that there is or was is never going to bring me down!!!
Caronian: Look at him, He's wicked get him!!!
Varian: Bring me down!!!
Caronians: No one mourns the wicked! So we've got to bring him.......
Varian: Ahhhhhhhhh!!! (this is supposed to be the little riff Elphaba does in the musical)
