Christmas time around Nashville was always beautiful. Lights were blooming all throughout the city. The cold breezes almost brought a sense of calmness and purity. What always caused the most excitement was the occasional snowfall that came every few years around this time. Either way, it was a beautiful time of year, and why not spend it with the family.

"Because I want to spend Christmas with my family!" Carrie argued. "I haven't seen them since I dropped my album."

"I haven't seen my family since I had games up in Canada!" Mike argued back. "And I haven't been home for almost a year now."

"Ottawa is so far away for us to go," Carrie told him. "Not to mention we would only be there for like a day or two because you have games right after."

This conversation had been eating at the couple for a week now. Both of them missed their families in their respected home towns, but were so far away that there was no way they could tackle both. Plus, it was in the middle of hockey season and Mike had games all around the Christmas season. He never got a break around that time.

The couple had been walking through the forest in Mike's backyard for a while now. The sun had already fallen and night was dark but yet they could see the path ahead of them. While both focused on the path ahead of them, they still focused on the conversation with each other.

"Maybe we should go our separate ways for Christmas," Carrie suggested. "I mean, it's not like we're married or anything."

"But we're about to be," Mike slipped.

"What?" Carrie asked immediately catching what he had just said.

The couple was right on cue as they approached trees that were strung with beautiful white Christmas lights that were twinkling above them making the thin layer or snow on the ground glisten and sparkle. Carved on the trees were dates or the year of the couple's first time meeting, their first date, their first kiss, their first everything. It was all so beautiful. And to top it off, their favorite song of Love Never Fails by Brandon Heath was playing softly in the background.

"Mike," Carrie turned around to him unable to process what was going on. As she turned around to face him, he was on one knee. And that's when she knew she was going to freak out. This was like some fairytale. Things like this Carrie never thought would ever happen to her.
"Carrie," Mike said almost as if to immediately calm the love of his life down. "We need to be together on Christmas because Christmas is about spending time with the people you love most. And last time I checked the girl that saved me from my brokenness, fixed me, made me new, developed a faith in me that I never knew existed, cares for me, supports me in everything I do, and loves me like I have never been loved before, deserves to be at the top of the list of people I love most. And Carrie, if you choose to spend the rest of this crazy life with me, I vow to you to provide the same to you and so much more. I want to give you the world. So Carrie Marie Underwood, will you not only spend Christmas with me, but marry me too?"

Carrie couldn't help but laugh and smile through the silly grin that was plastered all over her face. She was so giddy with excitement all she could do was tackle him. As Mike was laying on his back, Carrie's legs straddled him as she sat near his lower stomach. "I will spend Christmas with you, I will spend New Year's with you, I'll spend a wedding with you, I want to spend a thousand lifetimes, with you," Carrie said tapping her hand against his muscular chest with every phrase said.

As Mike slid on the big and beautiful ring onto Carrie's finger, Carrie leaned down to kiss him longingly and passionately, not even bothering to look at the ring. After a while, Carrie stood up and helped her fiancé off of the ground and up to his feet where they tangled themselves up into each other and swayed to the beat of the slow love song that shared a special place in the couple's hearts. As they did so, they prayed that moments like these would last forever. They prayed that their faith together only grew stronger from there. They prayed that their marriage would never end. And they prayed that they would do all of this with love for each other kept inside of their hearts for a lifetime to come.
