It had been like walking on eggshells as of recent. From choosing where to spend Christmas, to telling their families about the engagement, to planning a wedding in seven months, everything would end up in an argument between the two. Both hadn't spoken to one another in a few days. Things were said that needed to be talked about, but at the moment they needed space. They needed that time alone to gather their thoughts, so they wouldn't hurt each other any more than they already had.

~Flashback~

Mike had unlocked the backdoor into Carrie's house with the key he had been given months ago. He went through the kitchen and into the living room to see his fiancé putting her shoes on, Ace and Penny nipping at her feet.

"Hey, babe," Carrie said sounding surprised to find Mike in the house. "What are you doing here?"

"We have a meeting with the wedding planner, remember?"

"Oh, shoot," Carrie gasped.

"You forgot, didn't you," Mike sighed.

"I have rehearsals for the tour," Carrie told him.

"I get that you're busy, Care. I really do," Mike said. "But I feel like you aren't even in this relationship anymore."

"You are kidding me, right," Carrie replied. "I wouldn't have tackled you in the snow last month in the middle of the freaking woods if I wasn't fully dedicated to our relationship. It's one mistake in scheduling. It was my bad and I'm sorry."

"I don't think it was a mistake," Mike shook his head getting angrier by the minute. "Ever since we've started planning this whole thing, you haven't been here."

"Because I'm planning a freaking tour at the same time," she replied frustratingly. "It's not like we haven't had to plan all around your hockey schedule too. You have been just as busy as me."

"But I still take the time out of my schedule just for the two of us," Mike retorted. "You know, maybe this was a mistake."

"What?" Carrie questioned.

"Maybe I don't want to marry you," Mike mumbled.

Usually, Carrie would have been taken back at those words. She still was, but she was too caught up into the moment to be heart broken by it. Instead she replied with, "Well, maybe I don't want to marry you either."

Both Carrie and Mike didn't even think after what they had said to one another. They just acted. Carrie stormed off for her car and headed to rehearsals. When she was gone, Mike angrily kicked one of the kitchen table chairs causing a loud thud to roar throughout the house leaving Ace and Penny barking mad.

The couple was a mess. They didn't know what they were going to do from there, but they knew the current state they were in was not pretty at all, and their future together seemed unclear.
