Teach me how to flirt

Chapter twenty five:

Ella stepped out of the cab, her arm attached to her chest, her red hair absolutely a mess.

As soon as her eyes fell on the sight of her house, a sigh escaped her.

Finally

The cab driver got her bags out of the trunk, laid them right in front of her front door, Ella smiled sweetly at him, he knew she couldn’t use her arm. Bless him

Chivalry seems to still exist, not all men leave without notice, there’s still hope any way.

Ella used her left hand to pass her fingers through her hair, before randomly dipping her hand in the bag.

She bit her lip and hissed a profanity as her bag fell on the floor. Her eyes watered frustratingly.  The cab driver watched her through his glasses and a slight smile was shown on his face.

He silently pushed out his hand to stop Ella from kneeling, and he started collecting the stuff that fell from the bag back into it. When he reached the wallet, Ella told him to hand it over.

She got out some change, and was startled when she found the hundred dollar back in her wallet. She held it up to take a look at it; it was the same hundred dollar. She was about to give it to the man when her eyes caught on something written in the lower right of the bill.

Thank you chika

As fast as the unexpected, Ella scrunched the money in her hands and looked at the man frightened.

“I … I am so s-sorry, I c-can’t give you t-this. Wait a seco-“

She stuttered as she started desperately looking for the fifty that was supposed to be in the bag.

“Ella?” Maryanne’s voice chimed through the surroundings and Ella found herself feeling safe and happy with Mary on her side.

Mary’s eyes widened at the sight of the broken limb, and then looked at the cab driver, back to the purse Ella was fiddling with. She took a look at the counter inside the cab and got out the money before handing it to the cab driver who appreciatively excused himself and drove off.

Ella had the hundred in her hand that was starting to sweat. Mary turned to face her and then she pulled her in a hug, it was a powerful I miss you hug.

Ella pulled her closer with her left palm and tears sprung free from her eyes.

“I miss you” she muttered, Mary rubbed her back and whispered,” how was it?”

Ella broke away and looked at her in oblivion,” how was what?”

Mary’s lip’s edge lifted into a half smile before she shrugged and murmured,” the goodbye.”

Ella guarded Mary with such an intense gaze that Mary’s brow lifted in comprehension

“no, it can’t be, he-he couldn’t!” she yelled hysterically in the end.

Ella’s eyes winced with the outburst before she was engulfed once again in the friendly hug.

“Come on, I’ll make you coffee and talk to you about me and Brian –the love of my life- and…”

“You broke up with Noah?!” Ella exclaimed loudly. Mary sighed and nodded,

“He was not… r-right” Ella stared at the cars passing by in the morning. The bus drive took them about six to eight hours to reach Miami and even though Ella had a broken arm, a flu hangover and painful back, she couldn’t help but feel the deep sympathy towards Noah.
