Different World // Nayeon X reader

Chapter 1

"Oh Y/N you're home?" Dahyun asked when she heard the front door open while sitting on the couch. Tzuyu is already home so it can only be Y/N. 

"Yeah, I am. What's that smell? Are you guys cooking?" 

"Tzuyu's making some ramen in the kitchen. We got a bit hungry." Dahyun smiled. She and Tzuyu eat ramen late at night very often so Y/N is used to it.

"You two have to stop eating ramen at midnight."

"We can't help it. We always get hungry." Dahyun answered.

"Oh Y/N unnie, you're home?" Tzuyu asked coming out of the kitchen with the ramen. "You're lucky I made some extra. Come join us."

"Fine, I'm a bit hungry as well actually." Y/N sighed and the three sat down to eat.

"Why are you late again today? Were you overworking again?" Tzuyu questioned Y/N.

"Yeah, it got hectic at the station today." Y/N said after slurping her noodles.

"That's what you say almost everyday and I know for a fact that it isn't always true. You just overwork yourself even when it isn't needed." Dahyun shook her head. Y/N keeps coming home late at night and she leaves early in the morning. She doesn't do anything fun, she just works all day.

"How are you so sure? Maybe I'm not working but doing something else."

"Yeah, like what?" Tzuyu laughed. "We've been living together for three years now. We know very well what you do." Y/N grew up in Seoul just like Dahyun and Tzuyu. The three were in the same class in high school, Y/N and Dahyun are the same age while Tzuyu is a year younger. She did really well in elementary school so they allowed her to go one year ahead. As usual, the three went on their separate ways afterwards. Y/N joined the police academy while Dahyun went to become a teacher. As for Tzuyu her family has a business, and studying was never really her thing so she joined her family's company.

The three of them all lived with their families during this time, however Y/N's family suddenly wanted to move to a small town about an hour away from Seoul two years into her studies. Y/N didn't really want to leave but her parents assured her that it was the right thing to do and that she could come and go to Seoul everyday since it wasn't that far. And that's what Y/N did for two years. She went to the academy every single day and had to take multiple busses to get there, which took her almost two hours. It was exhausting for sure. She really disliked living in a small town since she's very much a city person so she knew that she would be moving back to Seoul once she graduated. 

After two years she eventually finished the academy and got her degree. Her parents wanted her to become a cop in their small town but Y/N was set on moving back to Seoul and becoming a cop there. Her parents eventually agreed and let her go. During that time Dahyun and Tzuyu also wanted to move out from their families houses so the three decided to just become roommates. And now the three of them have been living together for about three years.

"Y/N-ah, you should do something fun once in a while. I mean we asked you to join us to karaoke last weekend but you declined just like you've been always doing for the past six months. Maybe you should start dating again." Dahyun suggested.

"Where does that suddenly come from? I don't want to date." Y/N looked at her in confusion.

"Well maybe you should. Ever since you broke up with her you've been not doing anything fun at all. Are you still not over her?" Tzuyu asked. Y/N's roommates can both clearly see the change in Y/N ever since she broke up with her girlfriend. Y/N worked a lot in the past too but she also had a lot of fun. Now she just works, she doesn't have any fun at all.

"I am over her. It's been six months since we broke up, why wouldn't I be over her?"

"I mean it doesn't really help that you work at the same station..." Dahyun reminded her. 

"We work at the same station but she's in a different team."

"But your teams work on the same floor..." Tzuyu looked at her with raised eyebrows, knowing that Y/N has to see her ex-girlfriend quite often.

"Yah, what are you two trying to do?" Y/N got a bit annoyed by them. They've been talking about this subject a lot lately.

"We're just suggesting you to try dating again. It might do you good." Dahyun repeated.

"And how will I do that? It's not like I can just go up to girls and ask them to go on a date. You know I'm not the type to do that and I'm definitely not the type to go to bars or clubs to find some girls to date. Oh and I also don't do dating apps. They're just a waste of time."

"Well, I think I can help you with that." Dahyun suddenly smiled creepily and sat closer to Y/N. "There's a new dating app that allows you to go on a date without having to text them. You just look at their pictures and some information about them and if you both like each other then you immediately go on a date. That won't waste any of your time since you don't have to text them. You can just go on a date immediately."

"I don't have time to go on this app and go through all those people to find a match. Besides it sounds creepy." Y/N sighed, not liking this.

"We'll do it for you. I mean we know you well enough to set you up with someone." Tzuyu suggested.

"Yeah, exactly. C'mon trust us for once and let us arrange you a few dates." Dahyun held her friends' arm.

"No." Y/N answered.

"C'mon pleaseeee. I promise we'll match you with the right people. Just go on three dates and if you don't like it, then we'll stop doing it."

"No." Y/N is certain in her answer.

"Pleaseeeee." They both looked at her with puppy eyes.

"Fine. Just three dates. I won't go on any more than that and if I don't like any of them then you'll stop harassing me like this okay?" 

"It's a deal." Dahyun and Tzuyu extended their hands for a hand shake and Y/N laughed before shaking both their hands. She doesn't want to do this at all but her friends mean a lot to her and if they ask her to do something she can't say no.
