A few days have passed since Y/N's family went back to Gapyeong. Sometimes Y/N wishes that her family also lived in Seoul. That way she would be able to visit them anytime she wants and she could help her brother and sister-in-law with babysitting on Minjun. But unfortunately they live in another town.

Since Y/N has some time today, she went back to the convenience store. But this time Nayeon was nowhere to be spot, seems like she isn't working today.

"Oh Y/N-ssi, what brings you here?" Chaeyoung asked.

"Nayeon is not working today?"

"Oh she is but she has a night shift."

"A night shift? She works at night too?"

"She doesn't normally but one of our colleagues fell sick so she's filling in for them." Chaeyoung explained.

"Oh I see." Y/N nodded. "Well, then I'll just come back later."

"I knew you would show up again." The cashier suddenly said. " Nayeon unnie told me about how you met and how you took care of her case. She also told me that she doesn't really like you because you're a cop. And I told her that anyone who was a little pride in their job would show up again to prove them wrong. And that's what you're doing right?"

"I guess you can say that. Do you know why she hates the police so much?"

"I asked her but she didn't say anything."

"Any idea maybe?" Y/N hopes to get something from the one person that knows Nayeon.

"Nayeon unnie is a very private person, I actually don't know much about her life. But when we first met, I could tell that she had a difficult life and maybe that is somewhat related to the police."

"I know I look like a total creep, showing up here all the time when she tells me not to but I have no bad intentions. I'm just trying to figure out why she hates us so much and if there's an important reason behind. If the police did something wrong, I want to fix that wrongdoing." Y/N explained.

"Honestly if I were in your place, I would do the same thing. So I get that you keep showing up here."

"Do you think it will work tough? Will she open up to me if I keep showing up?"

"Hmm, maybe. I mean we've been working together for years but she hasn't opened up to me yet. Your case might be different though. If she trusts you enough, she might open up to you." Chaeyoung guessed.

"Is there maybe someone in her family that was or is related to the police, or maybe any friends related to the police?"

"From what I know, she doesn't really have friends and as for her family, she lives with her dad. They have a pretty good relationship and he comes here sometimes to visit her during work." The cashier explained. Yes, Y/N remembers how Nayeon told her on her date that she lives with her jobless dad.

"He doesn't work right?"

"No, I think he is sick." This made Y/N raise her eyebrows. From the way Nayeon said it, she thought that the man just didn't work because he was lazy but turns out that he's sick. "I don't know what he has though. Nayeon unnie didn't tell me but I can clearly tell that he isn't doing well."

"How about her mom?" Luckily there are no customers right now so Y/N can ask all these questions.

"Her parents are divorced so her mom doesn't live with them. Nayeon unnie doesn't have a good relationship with her. The woman showed up here once and they had a whole argument. Apparently her mother doesn't treat her well and that's why Nayeon doesn't want her in her life. To me it seemed like her mother even hated her. I never heard a mother say such harsh words to her daughter before." Chaeyoung is telling Y/N all of this because she thinks Y/N has good intentions. Chaeyoung is also very aware that Nayeon went through something bad. Ever since Chaeyoung met her, it seemed like Nayeon's spark was missing. And from the way she spoke about the police, Chaeyoung can also guess that something bad happened.
