Rimuru POV

The next person called into my office was Beni. Since he was the commander, I wanted to confirm his strength first.

"You wanted to see me? I heard this was a private meeting. What did you want to ask me?" He asked as soon as he was escorted inside by Shuna

I shrugged my shoulders, "This meeting was actually something I decided on the last minute."

"Huh?"

"This war has greatly increased everyone's strength, right? We can measure your power in the labyrinth and I wanted to confirm everyone's strength." I explained

His face brightened upon hearing my words, "I see, that's really important! I thought you were going to question me about my newlywed life..."

I grinned, "I wasn't going to but if you want to~"

"N-No need for that..." He quickly says with a sigh, "That guy Souei actually said, 'Hmph, if you were able to evolve smoothly, then you only did what you had to do. You're so late in life that I thought I would have to help you...'"

Shuna approached from behind after bringing in cake for us, "Brother? What are you talking so rudely about in front of Rimuru-sama?"

Her smile was sending chills down Beni's alone, apparently, "S-Sorry... I'm sorry..."

She then turns to me, "Rimuru-sama as well. You should have scolded him instead of just going along with my brother’s foolish talk."

"Oh, okay!"

Shuna leaves the room after giving me my own set of cake and tea and Beni heaves a sigh of relief. I checked on his status once we were more relaxed.

"That's odd... I heard that monsters get weaker when they have children..." I said, briefly recalling this detail

Beni nods in agreement, "That's true. Generally speaking, they lose a large amount of magicules."

"Then how are you even stronger now?"

"That's a mystery!" Beni laughs refreshingly, "I don't know either! Souei was also pestering me about it, asking how I did it."

"Hm... Okay then! Tell me if you find out about anything!"

"Got it. Then I'll switch with Souei now."

Beni soon left the room after his interview and Souei entered to replace him.
