The straw that broke the camels back
Came in the form of a Pepsi cap.
Suddenly to my lip the bottle came -
Your remarks were how you experienced the same.
It makes sense when I sit back and think
To see you standing at the sink.
My mother popped into my head
And without warning, this romance was dead.
To be shamed about the amount of sex
From both my mother and my ex
"Do not do it, you shame me and them."
"Why don't we do it, filling the desire of men."
Clean in a particular way
To satisfy the mood that day.
Criticize at every turn
Stomach acid continues to churn
How easy to love bomb, manipulate and convince
A soul who's been looking for love ever since
Caretakers took to hiding behind doors
With towels shoved under, hiding light on the floors
So when I asked for a moment to connect
You chuckled with seemingly no regret
"What do you mean, your lip is fine.
Now, remind me, what was my line?"
How silly it was to have some hope;
To heal and change would mean to cope.
The hope faded around the same time
Falling out of love with dangerous caretakers of mine.
