Unclaimed Verses

In the silence of my mind, I hear
The echoes of unclaimed verses near
Whispers of words that long to be
Written down and set free

Orphaned lines, left all alone
Without a home, without a throne
They wander aimlessly in my head
Longing to be written, to be read

Abandoned stanzas, cast aside
Left to wither and to die
But I can hear their mournful cries
And I will not let them be denied

For every word, every line
Is a piece of me, a part of my design
And I will give them voice and form
And let them weather any storm

So I will write, and I will create
And I will not let these verses wait
For they are mine, and I am theirs
And together, we will climb the stairs.
