Currently daphne wasgetting, ready for a ball, and due to Ester not having debuted into society along with her other sister— Ester wouldn't go to the ball like her older sister just like Eloise wont— their mama was checking Daphne's splendid looking dress as Ester sits next to Hyacinth as she had her shawl around her body
A maid comes in with pearl earrings in one hand and ruby earrings in the other, "a bit of pearls or rubies miss?" The maid asks, Ester lifts her head along with Hyacinth, "a bit of pearls of course." Their mama picks out
"Mama, perhaps the rubies? Their better catching to the eyes of new suitors." Daphne rejects, earning confusion from their mama and the maid.
"Rubies?" Ester quietly questions with the raise of a brow. "If i am not too put all my eggs in one basket. I must.. collect more.. eggs." Daphne says, earning a scoff from Eloise while Ester smiles lightly
"The duke really has put your head in a spin."
"More like Lord Berbrooke must spin far away.." Daphne says under her breath— though Ester hears this as she hides a laugh as to not be scolded by her mama.
Mrs. Willson enters the room in a haste, making them look at her. "Good heavens, what is it mrs. Willson?" Their mama asks in surprise, "the queen ma'am.." mrs. Willson says breathily, earning worry from them, "She has written.. to you my lady." Mrs. Willson says as she holds a white letter with red ribbon, they were all silent as their mama reads the letter.
"What's it say mama?" Hyacinth asks in anticipation, Daphne places a hand on Hyacinth's shoulder, Ester purses her brows
"It says i am invited to a private tea with the queen, in 2 days time!"
They all look astonished and in disbelief of the letters contents, afterall, it was quite a honor to have tea with the queen.
"Never mind the pearls, you shall wear the family diamonds tonight." Their mama tells Daphne, who gains a smile as she turns to face the mirror yet again, Ester smiles from the information.
While her older siblings, were out with their mama at once again another ball, and in the drawing room— Ester was doing some embroidery of pink tulips and a brown rabbit, as she embroiders it, she hears her twin entering, that and she just may have some sixth sense
"Yes Eloise?" She asks as her eyes were focused on her embroidery, "how did you— never mind. I want to ask you something about lady whistledown" Eloise asks suddenly, making Ester pause in her embroidery
Ester turns to look over her shoulder and she furrows her brows at eloise, "what ever for?" She asks in some confusion, "are you— are you lady whistledown?" Eloise says the last sentence in a low tone, this makes Ester's shoulders relax down before laughing lightly
"I am not dear sister, i'm not a writer, i'm a reader." she shoots down Eloise's thoughts of her being lady whistledown, making Eloise let a breath out, "alright, thank you for your answer, goodnight" Eloise tells her before turning and leaving, Ester just goes ahead and returns on embroidering
They were all out, at a excursion where there were some other noble ladies and lords, as Ester sat on a chair next to Benedict, they watch as Colin, Anthony, Hyacinth, and Gregory play a game with a hoop while Daphne sits on the blanket that was there, their mother was smiling as she watches her four children play the game, and Benedict was eating as Ester goes back to drinking her tea— Eloise was off talking with Penelope as the two of them walk together
As Ester gets up, she places the empty tea to go join Benedict wherever he was, while she watches Daphne leave to go promenade with the Duke, before looking back at what she was doing, "Bridgerton! I bring cheerful news, bridgertons!" The sound of lord berbrooke makes them all turn to him as he had approached their mama and Anthony— his face was.. how do you put it— in poor condition.
"I've taken matters into my own hands and sought a special license for my wedding to miss Bridgerton" berbrooke says in regards to Daphne as the duke was behind her— his statement made Ester furrow her brows
"There is to be no wedding" daphne says as they all look at lord berbrooke, "i have already told you the arrangements have been canceled" Anthony tells Berbrooke with furrowed brows, "lord berbrooke, you look like your in a great deal of pain, shall we continue this conversation in a more private location?" Their mama suggests as Eloise comes over to them as she stands next to Colin.
"I require no more conversation, though perhaps i am finally speaking to the true head of the Bridgerton house for if it was you, I'd imagine you would've instructed your sister to take better care than to encourage certain attentions while alone with me on the dark walk on the voxal. Of course, mere hear say such a scandal, it could wreak havoc on the most.. influential of families, what if someone say.. lady whistledown do with such unseemly information?" Berbrooke threatens them
"Is that a threat?" Anthony asks harshly, "it most is not, because in 3 days, i am to marry, i have the diamond of the season, i have the very best the ton has to offer, i— have a Bridgerton, and i shall save her, as well as your entire family from the ruin from what you could not protect them!" Berbrooke says as he smakes the license into Anthony's hands, the duke that was there with them, is held back by Benedict from him lunging at the man.
"I look forward to the reunion of our great families! Bridgerton, Hastings" berbrooke tells them before walking away
They were in one, of the carriages, the carriage that held Anthony, their mama, Daphne, Eloise, and Ester— the twins sat next together with Anthony on Ester's left
"I must issue my challenge to lord berbrooke straight away, i assure you, i have been properly trained in the matter, i know the rules to follow" Anthony says as he looked at the shell shocked daphne
"You are not to deal with lord berbrooke, Anthony, do you understand me? Now whatever training you think you have, it is illegal, not to mention positively horrific" Their mother tells Anthony as she shakes her head.
"There is no other choice! Mother, when a young woman, let alone one's sister, is rumored to be dishonored, the consequences shall be deadly" Anthony retaliates while Ester and Eloise were silent as they observe the matter
"There is no solution. Shall lord berbrooke make good on his threat before you shoot him dead brother, what happens then? He may decide to open his.. tiny mouth at any moment and i shall be dead.. this will be all" daphne tells him, Ester's lips pull down as she looks at her sister, "i shall marry Nigel Berbrooke, it is the only choice.." daphne tells them, making them all stay quiet still, while Eloise was gagged as she looks at them
