suddenly, matt grabs melina's face, then she feels two hands on the back of her head pulling her forward, then feels his lips on hers.

...

the only sound in the car is the rhythmic clicking of the blinker. the low light feeling hotter than it is, and the air that was once cold is now warm and thick.

the silence rings in melina's ears, and it takes her a second to realize that matt is kissing her. the impact is so unexpected that her breath catches, but she quickly relaxes, closing her eyes and easing into the kiss. ignoring her racing thoughts, she slides her hands into his hair, feeling its softness. she's unexpectedly and completely drawn in, hardly able to believe this is happening.

in matt's mind, however, panic flashes. what the hell am i doing? his thoughts scream stop, stop, stop, but his actions betray him, pulling her closer instead. the kiss deepens, and melina has another realization: matt sturniolo is not a bad kisser. whoever started that rumor is stupid because, in this moment, she feels like she's won the lottery.

both soon realize they're practically making out. neither is complaining, but it's a shock that this is even happening.

matt shifts closer, the keys clipped to his jeans jingling as he moves his hand to her waist, holding her tightly. feeling their bodies pressed together makes everything feel even more real for melina, whose mind races with oh my god, this is insane.

melina leans even further into the driver's seat, her elbow accidentally hitting the steering wheel, causing the loud horn to startle both of them apart.

they stare at each other, catching their breath, matt's head resting against the window, back aching from being pressed against the door. but that's the last thing on his mind right now.

matt takes a mental picture of the moment, unsure when or if this would happen again, so he memorizes every detail of her face. her cheeks are rosy, hair slightly messy but still wavy, her eyes a mix of confusion and shock with a hint of enjoyment hidden behind it.
