CHAPTER 43
"MELINA IMAL"

[real life]

the next morning, melina opens her eyes and squints against the bright sunlight shining through the window. her body feels warm, and she notices a blanket draped over her. marylou must have brought them down during the night to make sure they wouldn't be cold.

lifting her head, melina glances around and sees that all her friends are still sound asleep. she tries to sit up, but something stops her—a weight around her waist. furrowing her brow, she lifts the blanket and freezes when she sees an arm draped over her.

her eyes widen in shock as she turns her head to the side and sees matt asleep next to her. his head rests on a pillow above the armrest, and his legs are stretched almost to the floor, making him look like he's seconds away from falling off the couch.

did i just fucking sleep with matt sturniolo? again?

melina tries to shift again, but the arm stays firm. she cautiously attempts one more time, only to hear a groggy voice coming from the other couch.

"what the fuck are you doing?" nick whispers, his voice thick with sleep, his eyes barely open.

melina jumps, causing matt to stir slightly. "i'm trying to get up," she whispers back, careful not to wake matt.

nick squints at her for a moment before rolling over with a muttered, "okay, well, can you be quieter? i'm trying to sleep." he pulls his blanket tighter around himself and drifts off again.

"sorry," melina whispers, exhaling a quiet sigh of defeat. she gives up trying to untangle herself and leans back against matt's waist. within moments, she drifts off again, surprisingly comfortable in the warmth of his presence.
