CHAPTER 46
"CHARM BRACELET"

[real life]

"how much longer until we get there?" melina asks for the third time since getting into the car. "only 5 minutes," matt replies calmly, trying not to get annoyed by her constant interrogating. "why did you pick such a far restaurant?" she asks, grabbing matt's phone and changing the song to "wildest dreams" by taylor swift.

"seriously? taylor again? that's the fourth song you've played already." matt complains, eyes still on the road but secretly enjoying this song the most out of the ones she picked, having heard it a few times already. melina narrows her eyes at him. "you played like ten thousand travis scott songs, but you don't hear me complaining! plus, it was my turn to pick a song. you need to expand your music taste anyway!" she says, turning up the volume and singing along to the song with excitement.

"oh my god..." matt mutters, letting out an amused laugh. "i can't believe my concert is next week!" melina squeals, briefly glancing at him before grabbing her phone. "oh yeah, i forgot about that. when is it again?" matt asks, finally pulling into the parking lot of the restaurant.

melina doesn't answer matt's question because she's busy looking out the window, trying to figure out where matt brought her.
"december 13th! are we finally here?" she asks, flashing him a smile. "yeah, now stop asking me questions," he replies, stepping out of the car.

melina gets out of the car and looks around, spotting the sign of the restaurant. a wide grin takes over her face when she realizes matt brought her to morton's the steakhouse, a very fancy restaurant in the city she'd heard about before.

"this place is huge! how'd you manage to get a reservation?" melina asks, peeking through the gigantic windows. "i reserved it a few days ago, guess i just got lucky when they had a table open," matt replies, walking up to her and handing her the sweater she brought. "you reserved it?" she teases, knowing matt would've felt anxious doing it himself.

matt looks around before glancing back at melina sheepishly. "fine, nick did it, but i was in the room the whole time he was on the phone," he admits, taking her hand in his as they make their way into the restaurant.

the jazz music grows louder as they enter. they greet the guy at the door, and matt walks to the reception desk where a lady stands with a computer. after he gives her his name to confirm the reservation, they follow the host to their table outside and sit down.
