The Nine-Tailed Fox

A roar echoed around. Nothing was supposed to happen. I shot up in a panic, noticing the lack of my boyfriend beside me. So he was out there already. I knew he had a shift tonight, but I thought he would have come home when Kushina was safe.

I threw the covers off of my body, stripped off my pajamas, and put some quick ninja gear on. I tied my headband around my forehead, not bothering to pull my bangs out of it. I gripped my katana in its sheath, threading it into its home on my left hip.

I ran out of my and Kakashi's shared house in the Hatake Grounds. And I saw it. I closed my eyes, the sinister chakra, the chakra that had been plaguing my nightmares since the day I felt it spike. The Nine-Tailed Fox.

Across the village, the fox lashed out. It struck houses and businesses, not bothering to save lives. It was doing the opposite, killing every single person who appeared to be a threat.

I opened my eyes, lit up in the red looking-glass of the Mangekyo Sharingan, and took off. I was trying to approach the front lines, but when I passed the Uchiha Grounds, I heard a shout.

"Hitomi!" I heard Fugaku-sama yell from beside me. I stopped and turned to get to him.

"Fugaku-sama, what's going on?" I asked, clutching my katana with my right hand.

"The Nine-Tails escaped out of Kushina Uzumaki's seal, but us Uchiha cannot do anything," Fugaku spat out, the last words sounding bitter in my ears.

"What do you mean we cannot do anything?" I questioned, letting go of my sword lightly. I felt it swing lightly and tap my thigh, fifteen taps going through until the elder answered.

"The Hokage Council has asked us not to act, as we are the main suspects." I lowered my eyebrows, looking for more answers. Fugaku sighed, letting his hand rest on my upper arm. "I know you can't see that far, but the Nine-Tails has sharingan in its eyes. It's–"

"It's in a Sharingan-Induced Genjutsu," I interrupted. By now, Lord 4th had summoned his Monkey Staff and pushed the demon out of the village, it standing and destroying the walls. "But even then, we should be the obvious choice to break it out, we know how it works. I'd do it myself, but Genjutsu isn't my strong suit. But it is yours." I pressed, hoping to make Fugaku-sama into a little bit of a rebel.

"We've been commanded not to act and I will respect the students of the 3rd Hokage, even if I don't agree with their actions." Fugaku seethed, clenching his fist around my bicep, keeping me in place.

I closed my eyes, letting my sharingan deactivate all the way so I was just seeing with my regular vision. I felt a huge surge of chakra, a large gust of wind, Minato's.

I opened my eyes, watching the Nine-Tails disappear to the Hokage Mansion just outside of the village. I saw a large barrier go up, reinforced by Kushina's Adamentai Chains.

After a few minutes, it disappeared along with the fox.

I clenched my eyes shut, searching at the edge of my range for the soft sea and harsh winds. I couldn't find them, but I found a new one. A soft wind, one that felt like a beach. The combination of the sea and winds. Naruto, my sensei's son. But underneath, like my sensei, I could feel that sinister feeling.

But it was darker, it wasn't balanced light and dark like Kushina's was. It was all dark, all demon, the worst thing I had ever felt.

The next day, which didn't come fast, I was sitting in the hospital. I wasn't injured, neither was Kakashi. He was sitting next to me, we were waiting. We were just outside of the Maternity Ward, waiting for permission to see Naruto. Hopefully Lord 4th will let us take care of him. Or at least let us see him.
