"You're saying what now?" Sam, Tara's older sister who was on the other line, asked. "She came over and asked what?"

Tara expected nothing less from her sister. Telling her what she had just told her deserved that sort of response. If the roles were reversed, she'd most definitely would react the same way Sam did. The older Carpenter did know the amount of pain Tara went through after Amber left, and her showing up at the door, unannounced and unexpected after years of no contact was more than just surprising.
"Yeahhh," Tara dragged out carefully. "Look, it's just for a little bit. Once all of this is done and over with, she'll be out, too. I don't see why not just help her."

Sam sighed, "Tara, I think you're making a rash decision. It's been five years and she broke your heart and fucked Silas. I don't think helping her would be a good idea."
Tara rolled her eyes. Sam didn't know the story, therefore her saying that was stupid. Though Tara could understand where her sister was coming from. When you watch your sibling get torn apart due to a breakup, all you want to do is protect them, and that is exactly what Sam was trying to do. However, Sam trying to protect Tara in this situation was pointless. Tara didn't need protection, Amber did. And even if she broke Tara's heart into a million pieces, the older girl now knew why she did so, and didn't blame her.

"Look, Sam, you don't have the full picture, which is not on you, it's on me, but I will help Amber out in this situation. She needs it. And after hearing what I just did, I'm even more inclined to helping her. So if you want to join me, go for it, and if not, that's fine too, but you can't stop me. I'm 21, soon to be 22, I can take care of and protect myself. I can make my own decisions, whether they seem rash or not. Your choice on what you want to do, but that's all I have to say." Tara told her older sister, before hanging up the phone. Sam'd be back home any minute now anyway, so this conversation would continue later. Right now, Tara needed to figure out how to get her ex the help she so desperately needed.

Amber was at home, scrolling on her phone. Jade was currently in school, and wouldn't be getting out until three hours later, so the ravenette had quite some time to kill before heading to her daughter's school to pick her up. Her own homework for her college classes had already been done, and now all she had left to do was just relax. Or relax as much as she could.

With everything that was going on, even relaxation didn't help. Amber was terrified out of her mind. If she loses Jade, her entire life would be over. Silas didn't scare her, and neither did those cops. But losing Jade? Fuck, that was all Amber could really focus on.

"Fuck this." Amber said out loud, chucking her phone on the bed and getting out of bed. Slowly, the ravenette made her way into the kitchen. Maybe cooking a nice meal would help get her mind off all that was going on. And, it was one of her favorite things to do. Ever since Amber was in high school, she would cook as much as she could, not only because her parents were often too busy to cook anything, but also because of how much love and affection went into the art of cooking. She would put her all into it, and seeing the smiles and pleased faces when her meal was served was what made it worth even more.

Amber smiled to herself as memories of her teenage years came back. She remembered and reminisced on all the times her parents would come home from work to a freshly cooked meal, and how her mother would come up to her and give her the biggest and hug tightest hug. Or how her father would just smile at her and give her a kiss on the top of her head. She even remembered the time when she cooked Tara a meal for the first time. They hadn't been dating at that point yet, but were only really seeing each other. That was the day Amber officially asked Tara to be her girlfriend.

The raven head remembered that day as if it was yesterday. Tara had just come over to Amber's house after work and was practically exhausted. She ended up going straight for the couch and just crashing on it. Amber just laughed at her before going back into the kitchen to grab the dish she cooked and bringing it out to Tara, who in turn, starred at her wide eyed. It was such an important moment for the two of them and ended up becoming a tradition. Amber felt her eyes start to get teary, and was quick to blink them away. She wasn't gonna do this. Not anymore. Tara and her were done a long time ago and it was time for Amber to accept that and move on. Tara probably already has, so she should too.
