The decision was final before end of week. She was worried and felt guilty, but there really wasn't much to do. This decision wasn't made lightly, and it hurt knowing what it'd do to Sam, but Tara really didn't have much of a choice. Abril needed to be taken out, which was exactly what Tara was going to do. Kirby was a bit surprised by how quickly Tara came to it, telling her she's going under, as the blonde thought for sure she'd turn it down to protect her sister, but when Tara said that this wasn't about Sam and that she'd deal with it later, Kirby didn't say anything.
"We need to think smart," Tara said as she stood leaning against the desk, the board displaying a map with Abril known whereabouts in the last few weeks. The woman's stay turned out to be longer than usual and it worried everyone involved in the case, though given the cartel leader's reason for returning, it was clear why her stay was prolonged. "Abril will cut all corners just to get what she wants. And we all know that regardless of how dangerous it is, she won't stop until she's got it."
"So what are we supposed to do?" Agent Garza said, looking between her and Kirby. "We still can't point to the one man Abril wants, so how are we supposed to get ahead and arrest her?"
"Simple." Tara shrugged, nodding at Kirby, "Abril wants the man who killed her father. Kirby's got a name. She's still looking for him, only knows a face and a name. I go under now and provide her intel, essentially helping her with tracking him down and keeping the cops off her back. As soon as we track down his location, we give it to her, she goes when we do, they come face to face and we put her under arrest.""Except that gives her every opportunity to kill him when she sees him." Agent Stensen pointed out. "As well as giving her the opportunity to kill you the very second you slip up."
"Are you trying to make this into a suicide mission, Sergeant Carpenter?" Carter added, making Tara chuckle. Sure, their points were valid, but they underestimated her. Not unusual when it comes down to the feds.
"Don't underestimate me, Agent Carter. I'm capable of handling this without any issues, and Abril trusts me. I wouldn't be her go to person for intel if she didn't." The short haired officer said, folding her arms. "You know you don't have any other options, Agents. It's either we give her what she wants and take advantage of it, or we don't and she finds her own way to find him, which I think we all know will result in her killing him and fleeing before you can put the cuffs on her. Don't forget who she is and who her boss was.""La Fiera's dead, and surely there's something Abril doesn't have to keep her out of our reach." Carter said in response, resulting in a corked brow from the young Sergeant. "Everyone messes up eventually."
"Abril doesn't." Kirby interjected, siding with her sort of sister in law. "Just because La Fiera's dead, it doesn't mean she wouldn't be able to get away from us. It also doesn't mean that Abril hasn't thought everything through twice."
"Abril doesn't fuck around, Agent Carter. Neither did La Fiera. Her being dead means nothing when it's in regard to Abril." Tara added. "Not to mention, you weren't even the ones to bring La Fiera down. It was Angela Lopez, who believe it or not, understood that neither of those women were ever going to fuck up bad enough for them to get caught. And even if they did, they'd always have a plan to get out.""Are you saying we kill Abril?" Simone Clark, one of the rookies, asked, slight concern on her face.
"No, but what I am saying is that when the arrest is made, you'll have to be smart enough to keep her in handcuffs long enough for prosecution, and know the whereabouts of her crew that will absolutely do everything to break her out." The Sergeant corrected. Everyone in the room went quiet, and suddenly a knock on the door came. Folders were quickly shut closed, the board with all the maps and photos was turned around to face the wall, and the projector was turned off, ensuring the topic was kept away from those uninvolved with the case. They watched as the door was opened slightly, Sam peeking in just a bit, and both, Tara and Kirby, felt their hearts drop as their eyes connected with the older Carpenter.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to interrupt," Sam said, clearing her throat. A look of curiosity was displayed across her face, concerned as to what the reason was for her younger sister to be in the same room as her girlfriend and a few other FBI Agents. "Tara, you've got a visitor waiting for you in the lobby."
