A/N: i lowkey hate this chapter cause i don't think it's my best, but oh well. have fun reading.

Tara's head was pounding as she finally came to. Bright lights were surrounding her, making the sensation in her head much worse. She saw figures standing in front, but through her dizzy and blurry vision, it was hard to make out what those figures were. She tilted her head up, noticing the chains over her, and soon realized that she was cuffed to those chains by both hands. A groan came from her left side, and the young sergeant turned in the direction, seeing Kirby in the same position. Slowly, her vision was starting to clear up, and Tara gave it another shot, looking straight ahead of her to see if she could make out who or what was in front of her. And she did, but what she saw wasn't good at all. Abril was sitting in front of her crowd of men, watching as her and Kirby regained consciousness. She was looking beyond pissed, and Tara knew that whatever was about to come would mean hell for them. The young woman closed her eyes, trying hard to fully regain consciousness and clear out her vision, though it really didn't matter at this point, as surely Abril had every intention to kill them both.

"Look who's finally awake." Abril got up, walking towards both of them. "How's the pounding? Not horrible, I hope."
Kirby seemed to be in worse shape than Tara was, and Tara wondered why. They couldn't have beaten them while they were unconscious, right? They had to save it for later, to make the both of them watch and feel it as it was happening. That's the way Abril and her men were, after all. They wanted their prey to be conscious during torment.
"Abril," Tara croaked out, her throat hurting like a bitch. "What is this for?"
She was still loopy, barely able to keep her head steady. Whatever concoction her men used was strong as hell, that was for sure. She wondered how long they were out for. An hour? Two? A whole day? That was a question she wanted to know the answer to, though nobody would give it to her.
"Oh, you still haven't figured it out?" The cartel leader asked, making a "tsk" sound with her tongue. Tara had a feeling what this was for, she just didn't know how it happened. "You really thought you were going to waltz in here and pretend to be someone you're not? You really thought I wouldn't find out that one of you is a cop and the other's a Fed? How dumb do you think I am?"

"Dumb enough if it took you like what, five weeks to figure this out." Kirby managed to get out, causing Tara to let out a small laugh. That joy didn't last long, though, as Abril sent a signal to the men behind them, and soon after, both women let out grunts of pain as they felt the whips connecting with their backs. Well fuck, Abril surely wasn't one for jokes, and she wasn't in the mood for play around. Another hit of the whip was sent, and it just kept going, until something clicked in Tara's brain, telling her that the more she kept grunting and cussing, the more whipping she would receive. So, she stopped letting any sound out of her mouth and took the pain as best she could, keeping quiet. Kirby seemed to pick up on that, too, and they both hung off from the ceiling, quietly taking the hits. When Abril was finally satisfied, she sent another signal, and the whipping stopped, though the burning sensation on Tara and Kirby's backs didn't.

"You both are fucking moles!" She suddenly yelled, making Tara wince. "How dare you come onto my property and try to work with me?!"
Neither of them had an answer, but even if they did, it wouldn't get them anywhere.
"How did you find out?" Tara croaked out, really wanting to know the answer to that. Abril looked at her with so much much rage, and once again, the whip collided with Tara's back. What made the feeling worse was the scar tissue she already had. Abril scoffed, sounds of struggling coming from the other end of the room, and Tara worked on trying to get her head up to find out what was going on. But, it was difficult, so when she saw Abril's feet go behind her, she wasn't too surprised to feel her hair get pulled to get her head up. What she was surprised about was seeing Mia here, held by two guys, looking at Tara and Kirby.
