De'Lani pov 6:45 am Time jump: 4 years later
"Yes ma I know we've been over this like a hundred times already" I said as I walked into the kitchen "Honey I just worry about you ever since-" "Ma I don't wanna talk about that! It's been 4 years and my memory hasn't came back I'm tired of trying to remember the past!" I said as I flipped through pages of the file
"Lani there's so much that you don't know that you need to know" my mother said "Ma if it was important then I would have remembered it" I said really dismissing everything my mother was saying "Come down for Christmas that's all I ask of you just come down we haven't seen you in four years Lottie we miss you"
I sigh as I thought "Fine I'll come and see you guys for Christmas but no more photo books no more going down memory lane I just want a fresh start" I said "Deal" "Ok now I gotta go mama I love you" "I love you to baby" she said before hanging up the phone
I sigh as I sat my phone on the counter I made my way into my room to get ready for work

After I got dress I texted Tess and told her I was on the way.

"Good morning boss" Tess said as she opened my office door "How many times have I told you not to call me that" I said while playfully rolling my eyes "Whatever you have a meeting with TCL about that partnership" "Oh my gosh I wish those people would give me a break" I said while placing all of my bags on my desk
"Yea I know" Tess said with a small pout on her face "But hey look on the bright side" "And what is the bright side exactly?" I said while folding my arms "I don't know but whatever moving on" Tess said as she showed me my schedule for today.

I started packing my things as I heard someone knocking on the door "Come in" I said Soon the Kelly walked into my "Are you heading out?" Kelly asked as she closed the door behind her "I was but what do you need?" I asked while sitting my bag on my desk "Oh nothing it was just something about the Christmas party you're hosting this year it can wait till tomorrow" Kelly said
Shit I forgot about that "Actually I'm leaving in the morning to go back to New York umm you can pass that information on to Christian I know how badly he wanted to help" I said
Kelly nodded before leaving I sighed before grabbing my things and leaving as well.

I sat outside of my mother house debating if I should just turn around and go back home, but that thought was cut off by the front door opening. I saw my grandmother walking out of the house I got out of the car and made my way towards the front door.
"Hey mama" I said kind of awkwardly not really knowing how to approach her. I mean yea she's my grandmother I should approach her as such but it's been a few years I know things aren't the same.
She look up at me the look of surprise and love was written all over her face, she embraced me into a tight hug as we rocked back and forth.
She grabbed my hand with a smile and pulled me into the house I could hear laugher and talking coming from the living room. We walked into the living room and the first person who saw me was my mother her over dramatic self started screaming as she sped walk towards me
"Oh my god my baby is it really you?" She said while pulling me into a tight hug "Yes mama it's me I promise I said while hugging my mom in a awkward way.
Over the years affection hasn't been my best sute We pulled back from each other and I went to say hello to the rest of my family.
We caught up on some things I'm happy that my mother listened to me and told the family to not speak of anything in the past since I don't feel like stressing over any of that right about now.
This was supposed to been published like early December but I lost interest in the book for a while and I just wanted to spend my Christmas break doing anything but writing but I do plan on writing more since school is starting back in a day 👴🏻
