A/N: We're still in the past okay :D
And yes, 'gentle man' not 'gentleman', though he's both 😭🤚

~~~
Haibara had been joining Nanami on his library trips.
And while this meant Haibara and I got to know each other better, it meant less time alone with Nanami.
This, however, may have been what pushed Nanami to make a move.
That, and the fact that Getou had given him free tickets.
....
Nanami and the others were lounging around at the academy.
They were on a break.
Haibara offered to get drinks for him and their seniors who were also present.
Gojo seemed to be presenting his case on why cats were superior to dogs to Shoko as Getou strode over to him.
"Here." He handed Nanami a ticket for two. Tickets to a museum, the latter noted.
"I helped some old lady today and she gave me these."
Nanami hesitated.
"Don't you wanna go, senpai?"
Getou pointed his thumb at Gojo behind them. "Pretty sure this dude would only create havoc. And Shoko... Wouldn't be interested." He paused.
"Besides..." he slung an arm around Nanami with a shit eating grin.
"I don't have a pretty lady to go with, unlike you, you sly fox."
Nanami's eyes slowly widened.
Getou smirked.
"Haibara might have slipped out some stuff in between conversations."
Nanami's eyes snapped towards Gojo.
"Don't worry," a pat to his shoulder, "he doesn't know yet."
"Oii!!! What are the two of you scheming without me?" Gojo peered over his glasses.
"Nothing, you jackass." Getou dismissed him with a wave, walking over towards him.
Haibara came just in time with the drinks.
...
Now, at the library, Nanami was checking out a book.
Haibara had slipped out earlier to pick an important call.
"Any plans for the weekend?"I found myself asking.
Nanami found his eyes darting towards his shoes.
"I got tickets to a museum." He responded carefully.
"Oh? So are you and Haibara-san going together?"
Typing into the computer, I had not noticed a conflicted expression pass his face.
"That... has not been decided yet."
I finished typing.
"Oh."
A moment of silence passed between us while I locked my eyes on him and he looked elsewhere.
Clearing his throat, he asked tentatively, "Would you... care to join?"
I felt my brows rise and a grin enter my face uninvited.
"Yes!"
Gathering myself, I responded again."I mean, yes, of course. I'd love to join you."
Nanami sent a nod to me at my response.
Curious, I looked at the book in my hand and asked him,"Say Nanami-san, how many tickets have you got?"
I lifted my gaze to him for his response but he looked away and responded so softly I was afraid I had misheard him.
"Two."
"Then..."
I couldn't help but ask, "..will it be too presumptuous of me to assume it a date?"
I returned to him the book he was checking out but kept my hold on it while he held the other end.
A feeble attempt to keep him from leaving, afraid that I had messed up.
Nanami kept his gaze on the book.
"No," he said.
Then he looked at me.
"No, it wouldn't be."
~~~

"What are you doing?" Nanami's voice brings me to the present.

He's leaning against the door frame, a coffee mug in hand.

"Oh, I just found these old photos." I hold one out for him to see.

"Wanna see?"

He comes over and sits beside me.

We are not aware of how fast time passes by until Hachi comes bounding into the room to remind us it's time for dinner.
