We have been observing the sun's corona since 1995. New UV imaging could help us understand solar wind origins. The reason that this type of UV imaging works is because no one had shot UV at the side of the sun instead of straight on for a long period of time. They have already revealed plasma structures that resemble webs in the sun's middle corona. Interactions with the web plasma releases stored magnetic energy. NASA missions could image how the outer corona turns into solar winds, and we'll be able to see how they affect the solar system. These were the first observations that united the sun and heliosphere as a single system. This could lead to new discoveries with new missions like Polarimeter to Unite the Corona and Heliosphere.
